I don't know exactly when it began but I suspect, like a lot of the political / media divide that it all began with Trump. Forgive me if I am wrong but I don't recall "fact checkers" being a part of media or social media before then. These days, the fact checking is just crazy because if you want to make just about anything "false" you can do so by selecting certain parts of a point someone is trying to make and isolate a word or two that could be conceived as not 100% correct depending on how someone is deciding to interpret it.
This has never been more true than it is now in regards to Covid.
Recently, Twitter fact-checked someone's obituary because it suggested (ok, it downright said it) that the person died from complications associated with getting vaccinated. The lengths that our masters will go to in order to keep us from dissenting opinions is pretty maddening and it makes me want to just tune out.
No one really trusts the media anymore except idiots and I am not choosing a political side on this either. I know plenty of conservative idiots who will believe anything they read from extremely right-wing websites and groups on FB.
I saw this funny meme the other day though and it made me think that it could be applied to just about anything anyone says that goes against the mainstream narrative these days.
And this could be applied to so many of the things that are tagged or removed from social media for being "false" these days. It's determined to be false because the people who own the delivery method don't want you to see anything other than what they want you to see.
I have a solution and I think that most people that are participating on this platform would already agree with it: Get off of the major social media platforms and encourage others to do so.

I truly believe that if a majority of people would just get off of the major platforms that the problem would sort itself out. You only have to be subjected to as many lies or disinformation as you are willing to consume!
Worse: they outright MAKE UP stuff and then claim it's false

The fact checkers aren't checking facts, they are manipulating data in order to have their own "facts" be the "real" ones when in fact, most things are open to a bit of interpretation. But we aren't supposed to think for ourselves anymore, just trust Papa Government! They have your best interests and safety at heart!

That too. But they also completely make up stuff: https://www.climatedepot.com/2021/09/20/bjorn-lomborg-warming-saves-166000-lives-each-year-but-a-climate-alarmist-blog-doesnt-want-you-to-know-they-are-helping-facebook-block-this-information/

Well said, alot of persons especially the teenagers who are not supposed to be in some platforms are all there, they are just the one of the major issues.

I have a few friends with kids and they recently told me that they do not allow them on social media. The kids probably still are there because kids are clever little jerks, but at least they aren't doing it all the time in front of their family.
