How social media can ruin lives

in socialmedia •  8 years ago

Social media has absolutely took off the past couple of years, creating a whole new world where people feel like they can disappear off into. It has started to take over peoples lives. You walk into a restaurant, how many people are on their phone? About 65%, and how many of those people are checking in their location to share with all of the people that don't really care where they are? About 50%. When you scroll down Facebook for example, you have 'Wendy checked in at cineworld watching batman'. What is the reason for this? Who actually cares what Wendy is doing on a Sunday afternoon? Why do people feel the need to share every single detail of their life on social media? It doesn't prove anything, doesn't make you better than the next person? Everyone seems like life is one big competition, seeing who can get the most likes, views etc. That does not amount up to your value which people are mistaking. People are using social media as a way of comparing themselves to other people, but never seem to understand that you can portray your life however you desire through social media, just because you are smiling holding a glass of wine by the fire, doesn't mean that the absuice argument didn't just happen 5 minutes before...? You look at someone's instagram account and think wow their life looks amazing., I'm so jealous, that jealous I'm going to get my hair done the same. Originality is becoming less common, it's almost like people are being cloned, looking at someone online thinking I want to be like her, next minute they're wearing the same outfit same hair and make up. This is unhealthy. People are forgetting about what life really is about! It's not about how many followers you have! Life is about waking up happy, loving yourself for who you are and all those around you. We were all created differently for a reason, so embrace it, stop uploading your life onto social media and enjoy every second.
