Curious what’s going to make a difference in social media during 2018? I have been doing some research and have found 5 trends that are going to rule 2018.
Trend #1
Topping the list of 2018 social media trends is V I D E O ! Video will be huge! Start making use of Facebook Live, Instagram Stories, and SnapChat to start. My advice, start getting your feet wet little by little. Pro tip: Master one platform at a time. Trying to mast all of them at once is unrealistic and your end result may turn out sloppy.
Trend #2
Video FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out. Video that is only available for a few hours tends to create a sense of urgency with audiences. SnapChat was the leader in this type of video and many of the social channels have followed suit.
2018 HINT: Save your most “exclusive” type of content for video with a time clock.
Trend #3
Chatbots...for the right reasons. You will see many businesses begin to employ chatbots as a way of instantly communicating with their audience. Areas that will use this will be customer service tasks like: receipt requests, special offers, coupon distribution, etc. Take some time to introduce yourself to chatbots and discover how they may be beneficial to your business.
Trend #4
The millennials are still a popular audience to target but, Generation Z will start to emerge as the new group to target. The oldest of the Generation Z population are 22 year-olds. They are just starting to hit the workforce and marketers already have their eyes on them. Start researching this audience and explore how your business can begin to connect with them!
Trend #5
Personalized content will be huge!
If you have a brand or product that spans various demographics and interests you will need to appeal to each of them. Gone are the days where you can put all of your marketing in one social media account. You may need to manage several social media accounts on one platform - each with its very own ‘vibe’ in order to attract your tribe. Take it one step further...you may find your business on many social media platforms instead of your core go-to social channels.
I hope this information helped and gets you thinking how you will change up your social media during 2018.
