Thomas Sowell speaking on identity politics in a 1981 interview

in society •  7 years ago

It is a very interesting speech, in the sense of him denying the validity of a common identity politics notion that the lack of equal representation of a particular group means discrimination against that group.

He also expresses skepticism about concepts such as internalized misogyny and various other common identity politics notions.

Oh, you can get so many quality quotes out of his talks.

One of my favorites ones goes something like this, "Isn't it the height of insanity that today we hold some people responsible for what happened 150 years ago, yet give others a pass on what they themselves are doing now."
