Song Challenge Day 6 - A Song That Makes You Want to Dance

A lot of times when I talk about music, I'm sure I sound really old. Music isn't as good as it used to be, these kids nowadays don't know how to write a song, everything sounds the same and it's overproduced. You get the picture.

My theory about people and music is that in general people get stuck in a certain era. For a lot of people college is where they discover the music that they will listen to, and think of as quality, for the rest of their lives. It seems to be the case for me, but of course there are exceptions. Despite this, I really do make an effort to try to expose myself to lots of different types of music. Every once in awhile something sticks. This is one such case.

I always had an affinity to electronic music. Back in college, jungle and tech step were my favorite. There was nothing quite like feeling a deep rolling bassline deep down in your guts, paired with an insanely complex snare and hi hat combo, while you went spastic on the dance floor. I see projects like Skrillex and Knife Party as the next evolution of that. It's slowed down considerably from jungle's bombastic BPM counts, but it's every bit as aggressive.

To me, Jungle is the EPITOME of the possibility of sound!!! I’ve listened to an amazingly diverse array of musical compositions, but nothing beats The Amen in my book!!!

It's insane and awesome that an entire genre was birthed from a single drum break. And it's reach has extended just beyond the genre. It's impossible to overstate the impact of the Amen Break.

Bombastic song, reggae meets jungle. I don't listen to much techno music, but I like that song.

Great. Always cool to find something new that you like.
