Simon, the sorcerer: You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Acts 8:21

Those who live subject to worldly desires, that is, those who live according to the flesh, cannot inherit eternal life or the kingdom of heaven, the dominion or empire of God's perfections: "Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God" James 4:4. This was one of the first spiritual teachings of the Lord Jesus, and an example of this was the rich man who wanted to follow Jesus but could not because he loved riches (Matthew 19:16-22).
And we see a similar example to that of the rich man with Jesus, in the story of Simon, the sorcerer, who wanted to buy spiritual gifts with money from the apostles. The love of money is the cause of many evils in the world.
The Bible tells us that Simon, the sorcerer, did wonders before the people: "Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great" Acts 8:9.
But it happened that the people of this country converted to the faith and were baptized, and the same thing happened with Simon. And then two apostles, Peter and John, came to Samaria to anoint the new believers with the holy spirit, and Simon, seeing the miraculous action, offered them money because he wanted to do the same.
And the apostle Peter, perceiving that Simon's heart was not upright, seriously admonished him, because the error takes us away from God's mercy (compassion, kindness), and so, Peter responded to Simon with these words:
"You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin" Acts 8:21-23.
