Day 5

I had a quiet day today, I got up at 0800 and had a nice breakfast (same as yesterday again!) and then finished uploading the pictures from yesterday. I got ready to go out and asked the hostel to drive me to the Origins Museum. We had fun getting there. First of all he drove me to Museum Africa (a completely different museum) so then we had to ask directions to the Origins Museum as he'd never been there. We were stopped at traffic lights and noticed a bit of smoke coming from the engine and that the engine temperature gauge was showing that the engine was overheating, so we pulled over. After having a look under the bonnet he decided that the water bottle to cool the engine was empty and that is why it was smoking. He phoned the hostel and the other driver came out with some bottles of water. They cooled the engine down, we swapped cars and continued on to the museum.

The Origins Museum tells the story of the emergence of human beings and humanity in southern Africa and also has a lot about rock art. I managed to get in for student price and spent about an hour and a half wandering, reading and watching the videos. It was very interesting and had some great videos to watch too!

I had a look around the shop (resisting all the books again) and then headed to the cafe, where I had planned to eat lunch. It was closed :( I phoned the hostel and asked them to come and get me and we drove back. I had a lunch of crisps and cereal bars. I had a quiet afternoon, I sorted my bags and organised everything, read my book and chatted to the Welsh guys for a bit.

I decided to eat the dinner that the hostel offered tonight (seeing as I had a small lunch). Today's option was cottage pie with salad and a bread roll. It was served at 1900 and was really yummy. I spent the rest of the evening watching TV and relaxing.
