Williamstown

Our journey began by boarding the ferry at Southgate in Melbourne for a journey along the Yarra to Williamstown taking in the Docklands area and seeing the shipping enroute which were docked alongside in the port and onto Williamstown which is a suburb of Melbourne, 9 km south-west of the central business area in the local government area of the Hobson Bay. At the 2011 census, Williamstown had a population of 13,203.

Williamstown is approximately 15 minutes by car from Melbourne via the West Gate Freeway or a 30-minute train journey from Flinders Street Station. The Ferries from Melbourne's Southgate Arts and Leisure Precinct take approximately 1-hour.

Williamstown is also the main town where the Australian Television Program Blue Heelers was filmed.

Being a warm sunny day we had a picnic in a park along the seafront and watched the activities thereabouts.

After lunch we strolled along the seafront and viewed the historical buildings ,browsed in the shops and late afternoon had an ice-cream from one of the famous ice cream parlours.

Then we strolled further afield and took in more of the views and history. We came back to our meeting point pre-arranged with our son and enjoyed an evening meal under one of the umbrellas of the local restaurants.

Later we journeyed back to the city of Melbourne feeling quite tired . So a cup of Rosie Lee (tea) and off to slumber land to dream .
