Satellite of Diona Saturn: stone and ice

in space •  7 years ago

We continue to remember the brightest and useful pictures and researches of the Cassini spacecraft which has finished the work in an orbit of Saturn on September 15, 2017. In this picture the satellite of the giant planet Diona, which Cassini in detail is represented I investigated in 2012.

Diona's diameter is 1123 km. Assessment of density has shown that approximately on one third of Dion consists of silicate strong breeds. And other volume occupies water ice in extremely firm state with a temperature – 186 degrees Celsius. On the most part of the satellite he is powdered with dust. The picture is made from distance of 418 thousand km.
