Bizarre things sent to space

Have you ever thought, of what you would send to space? Now I would assume, it would be an item that is iconic and carefully handcrafted to leave an impression. Some of these leave an impression for better or worse.

  1. Tandoori lamb. Now I can honestly say a piece of lamb wasn't on my list. Clearly it was on author Nikesh Shukla mind to promote his book Meatscape in 2014.

  2. 100,000 craigslist adverts was sent up on the 11th March 2005 . I can't say I've heard many positive things about the website but maybe that's just me. "It's very fitting that the first [commercial] transmission into space is by a community Web site like craiglist because it represents a wide cross section of society," said Jim Lewis, vice president of Deep Space Communications Network.

  3. A corned beef sandwich, was smuggled in by the astronaut John Young on 23rd March 1965. Once his co-pilot Gus Grissom took a bite the sandwich started to break up. Luckily the particles didn't cause any damage to the electronics.

  4. Pizza. Pizza Hut paid around £700,000 in 2001 to deliver a pizza to Russian cosmonaut Yuri Usachov aboard the ISS. They successfully became the first company in the world to deliver pizza to space.

5.A recording of a hyena laughing. You can actually listen to this here. NASA's Golden Voyager Record was sent into space with the Voyager in 1977. It has a range of sounds and images, I just found this one a little eerie.
