A USAF base located in Burlington County, New Jersey, approx. 16.1 miles (25.9 km) SSE of Trenton. It’s under the jurisdiction of the USAF Air Mobility Command. It was combined with 2 adjoining US Army and Navy bases on 1 Oct 2009. It originated in 1941 as Fort Dix AAF. Closed after World War II, it reopened in 1948 as McGuire AFB. It was named after Major Thomas B. McGuire, Jr., Medal of Honor recipient and the second leading ace in American history.
