spam on steemit: people that I mute do not stay mutedsteemCreated with Sketch.

in spam •  7 years ago

My feed is clogged with resteems by people that I have muted but who don't stay muted for some reason. If these people can hack the blockchain to remove the mute that I've placed on them, this will destroy steemit and cause me to abandon the platform.

If I can't figure out how to get control over who gets into my feed, I will either leave steemit or completely do without the feed page, which will essentially eliminate me following anyone.

I AM NOT GOING TO SLOG THROUGH TONS OF SPAM TO FIND THE POSTS OF MY FRIENDS HERE.

It makes sense that unfollowing someone does not purge their old notes in the feed, but muting someone should. My feed has been unusable because of all of the resteem crap from these pay-me-to-resteem-you shitheads.

keep low, don't stress yourself

I'm not stressed. I'm just warming up. :)

the only people who are on your feed are those who you follow..and those that THEY resteem
unfollow them..problem solved.

A few days ago, I gave my posting key to a website that provides account administration capabilities. I have now changed my owner key. Now no one can have my posting key (unless I've got spyware).

Thanks for being there, @everittdmickey.

the first rule of the blockchain is don't let anyone have your keys.
If a website doesn't use steemconnect I don't use IT

Why must I learn everything the hard way?

is that a rhetorical question?

That's your call. I enjoy conversing with you.

Not true. There are several pay-to-be-resteemed assholes that I have muted at least twice (which also unfollows them) and they are no longer muted and I am following them again, even though I NEVER UNMUTE once I mute someone.

These asses must be able to hack somehow to insert themselves into people's feeds and even turn off muting of themselves by others.

I don't have the time or patience to deal with this bullshit. If my feed can be spammed and there isn't any way for me to prevent it, then I'll have to find another platform or make do without ever looking at my feed, which will ruin the whole community aspect of this platform for me.

It might be in the cookie that makes steemit work in your browser.
Im seeing a lot of folks i should be following as unfollowed.

It was that I had given out my posting key to a website. Won't do that again.

Use steemauto.com to build a list you can control?

Interesting. Burned once; twice shy. I'm not giving out any keys to anyone any more.

They use steemconnect, which was built by steemit for just this reason.
So far they havent screwed the pooch.
If you want to un/delegate, start a new account, or use most apps, its steemconnect or nothing.

Ok. Thanks. I'm planning to keep it simple with steemit right now, just getting to know people. My development/creative focus is on getting my archive to the point where it is usable. Chatting with people while I work on the software fits nicely into the moments when I am waiting for a build or a reboot.
