The Royal Spanish Academy defines hope as «a state of mind that arises when what is desired is presented as attainable».
In Christian doctrine, the theological virtue by which God is expected to give the goods he has promised ».
There are also approaches in the educational area that incorporate the concept of pedagogy of hope, Paulo Freire refers to it as an ontological need, what moves us, what marks us an address.
"Each of the great ones was so insofar as the object of their hope was great. Some were great because they expected the possible things; others were because they waited for the eternal ones; but the greatest of all the greats was the one who hoped that the impossible would be fulfilled ": Soren Kierkegaard.
I believe that I define hope in this way:
We become truly human when free will guides our lives, we are great every time we make a simple or complex decision that brings us closer to the impossible and unimagined.
In each decision our desires and wishes are present. Whether we venture into a loving relationship with someone we have just met, or if we change city looking for new possibilities, as if we make a walk on the side of a mountain or climb to its peak.
It may seem, in the light of everyday logic, that this person is inconvenient, that the city is going to be hostile or that the mountain is very risky.
However, our faith, which is nothing more than believing in the impossible, will be in charge of giving us the strength to advance towards our longing.
