I'm thinking of doing a verb a day (What a concept!)
Entregar means "to turn (something) in, give, or deliver."
I usually think of this verb when I think about students handing in homework or perhaps you rent a car and you have to return the keys to the rental company.
Let's look at the conjugations. Entregar is a regular -AR verb, so we will use the regular -AR verb endings, which are the following:
yo = -o
tú = -as
él/ella/usted = -a
nosotros(as) = -amos
vosotros(as) = -áis
ellos(as)/ustedes = -an
So, we take the infinitive entregar and take off the -AR at the end. Now we have entregar Then we replace the -AR with the verb endings.
Yo entrego = I turn in
Tú entregas = You turn in
Él/Ella/Usted entrega = he/she/ you (formal) turn(s) in
Nosotros(as) entregamos = We turn in
Vosotros(as) entregáis = You all (Spain) turn in
Ustedes/Ellos(as) entregan = You all (L.A. and Spain (formal)/They turn in.
Now, let's use these forms in sentences to show you their natural context.
- Yo entrego mi carro al taller. = I hand my car over to the mechanic.
- Tú entregas la tarea. = You hand in the homework.
- Usted entrega las llaves del hotel. = You (formal) turn in the keys to the hotel.
- Nosotros entregamos el dinero al propietario de la casa. = We hand over (give) the money to the landlord.
- Vosotros entregáis la moto al hombre. = You guys (Spain) hand over (give or return) the motorcycle to the man.
- Ellos entregan el depósito a la cajera del banco. = They give the bank teller the deposit slip.
Hope this helps you! Check in tomorrow for the next lesson!
