Cumaná is an important eastern Venezuelan city, capital and seat of the Sucre state, Venezuela. It is located at the entrance of the Gulf of Cariaco, near the mouth of the Manzanares River. At present it has a population of 374,706 inhabitants, which, together with those of the neighboring towns of El Peñón, Cantarrana and El Tacal and other nearby towns, forms a conurbation with a total of 680,918 inhabitants that make up the Cumaná Metropolitan Area, distributed in 598 km² Of surface; Is located in the Northeast Region of the country. It is the capital of Sucre State and center of the eastern region. From the 3 of July of 1591 expressly receives title of city, with privilege of coat of arms. Since then it has obtained its historical patent so as not to lose the name anymore, and there it is, with its beautiful load on its back. At the moment it is strong candidate to be named patrimony of the humanity by the UNESCO, specifically its historical helmet. At the time, the city of Cumaná has also been known as "The World Capital of Culture", "The Venezuelan Athens" and today is part of its heritage.
