Speeding Tickets PA how to avoid

For those of you who live or drive through Pennsylvania you may not be aware that PA is the only state in the country where radar is not allowed to be used by local police. What this means is that unless your on the highway or a route that crosses the state your chances of being clocked by radar are almost nil. Many people falsely believe that a radar detector provides protection in most circumstances. In PA it does not. Once your off the interstate here's the deal. Local police use VASCAR for 90 percent of their traps. Once you understand how this system works your worries about getting a ticket are over. Basically there are two white lines painted across the road. Sometimes they are the width of the road, sometimes only the direction they want to clock and sometimes just 3 or 4 feet long across the center line.Vascar Line.jpgThere are always 2 lines a short distance apart. A cop sits out of view and looks for a car that appears to be speeding. When the car's front tires touch the first line he clicks his timing mechanism. When the tires hit the second line he clicks it again. It calculates your average speed and you nailed. When your driving in unfamiliar territory and cross one of these lines if you think you might be going to fast instantly slow down to well under the limit before you cross the second line. If the man is watching your average speed will probably be OK. I have also see the police using standard orange construction cones on the side of the road as markers because people are becoming aware of the painted lines. The other system used by local law enforcement is Enradd. Two units like the one below are set on either side of the road facing each other. Enradd.jpg Two infrared beams are sent across the road. When you break the beams it clocks your speed. These are harder to spot and you have to correct your speed before passing through the beams. Be constantly aware of your surroundings. Both of these systems are utilized for nothing more than revenue generation for the local township. The traps are usually set up at the bottom of hills or somewhere the speed limit is intentionally posted artificially low. Hope this helps you avoid paying these additional road taxes.
