Is automatic spellcheck a hinderance or a help?
I am afraid that with the prevalence of automatic spellcheck, good literary writing will be totally lost, as will the love of words. Spellcheck turns all your poetry into the prosaic and mundane. It was designed for the business and professional folks not the artists. And because it is so annoying to have to constantly edit each word spellcheck doesn't agree with, people will only write in symbols, short hand. Banality rules, the practical, data-based, gone are the words that uplift the soul, they are too difficult to keep fighting with spellcheck over when you are in the throws of a creative writing trance.
