Spin doctors have a bad reputation but occasionally through their own greed they do something positive! This is a post explaining how they have helped society without meaning to. As usual it is their own greed and that of their employers which is the driving force behind their actions.
It is this very greed that sometimes works in our favor...

The spin doctor does not work on behalf of the people. Their employers use them to create false narratives, crisis management and project imaginary perspectives on the minds of the populace. In short they have a justifiably bad reputation that rivals corrupt doctors, politicians and lawyers.
They are hired guns for greed and skullduggery and they are also greedy and willing to be amoral to ensure their cheques keep rolling in. It is this greed that can backfire so that they do not give accurate and effective information to their employees. A fantastic recent example of this was demonstrated in the historic election defeat in Malaysia.
The Unthinkable Can Happen!
Malaysia's history of democracy was only in name. Political power had never changed from the hands of the ruling party and election tactics like turning off the electricity during vote counting are a matter of historical fact. The recently ousted ex PM of Malaysia has been embroiled in a massive corruption and kleptocracy case. The cost of living has skyrocketed in Malaysia while wages stagnated.
The people were angry, they wanted change and they achieved it in the last election. A change of power with the new government starting investigations and uncovering a trove of fascinating evidence from the former PM and his wife. However this was not expected by any nation, spin doctor, vote rigger or political analyst. It was unthinkable to them and they conveyed this attitude to their employer the former PM of Malaysia.
Hubris & Greed Makes You Blind...
The biblical phrase: "Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" is totally appropriate in this case. The former PM employed an army of cyber-troopers, spin doctors, electoral riggers and thugs. One of the companies he employed was Cambridge Analytica the now defunct company who was exposed in a sting bragging about how they swing the voting process all over the world.
These army of nefarious operators were so concerned with keeping their massive pay cheques flowing (from the people's pocket) that they were willing to tell their vain and equally greedy boss that they could only sing his praises and assuring him that the election was in the bag and there was no way he could loose the election.
This hubris was justified in their minds. They had bribed the electorate, rigged the voting, strangled the press and campaigning process with outrageous new laws. They had this election, or so they thought. Their reassuring words to the ex PM lulled him into a false state of security.
No "Plan B" & Nowhere To Run!
When the people's votes were so massive in number that the historic change in power occurred, it appears that the ex PM and his greedy wife were caught totally unaware. One report stated that there was no "Plan B". They had not even considered they could loose and didn't make plans to flee. By the time they did try to flee the country travel bans had been imposed on both of them.
Mullions of dollars in cash, jewels and watches were then discovered in residences connected to this couple. It seems that charges will be brought against them which could lead to lengthy prison sentences in Malaysia and cases around the world. It appears that they stole billions of dollars from the people and then paid the best spin doctors in the world for advice. They paid well believing that if you pay for the best you get the best.
But what they paid for was advice and information that was not accurate. The spin doctors sang the song that he wanted to hear and he bought it hook, line and sinker. It was the greed of the spin doctors which in this instance worked in the people's favor.
With no "Plan B" the ex PM is stuck in Malaysia with investigations of murder, theft, corruption and bribery building against him and his wife. Finally they have done something positive for society and they didn't mean to because they have lost lucrative contracts.
This makes it a double win for the people. The spin doctors assisted the people and now the people have removed these blood suckers from taking more of the people's money. So thank you spin doctors! We don't usually get to thank them for doing something positive and it's important to be balanced!
