Pink May Bush

in spiraea •  7 years ago

With it's origins in Eastern Asia, the May Bush ( Spiraea ) is suitable to be grown in Temperate and cooler climates, but not the tropics. Ah well, you can't have everything. I took this photo in Springtime a few months ago, when this Pink May bush was in full bloom. It's the smaller cousin of the White May bush ( Spireaea cantoniensis ) , which i did a post on a while back. With it's Pink double flowers, this plant will bring a burst of colour to a sunny spot in your garden, and with few pests and diseases, it is relatively easy to grow. The cane-like growth can be pruned back after flowering if needed to keep the plant compact. This plant was spotted in my home suburb.new 2 040.JPG

The Pink May Bush is also called Spiraea x bumalda Anthony waterer. Flat-topped heads of rosy pink flowers cover this low, spreading shrub. New spring foliage is so attractive and beautiful.
Double play pink is the improved variety of spiraea whose foliage emerges drak red in spring and then turn in rich green in time for the pure pink spring flower.

partial to full sun, water regularly, weekly or more often in extreme heat. Moderate growing; reaches 3 to 5 ft. tall and wide. compact and colorful blooms in summer.
An excellent choice for the sunny mixed border where this shrub will fit in well and show off purple new foliage and summer pink blooms. It also makes a fine low growing informal hedge to plant along a drive, walkway or in a narrow planting strip.

Prefers Slightly acidic, well draind solis, but adaptable. water deeply regularly during the first growing season to establish an eztensive root system. Fertilize before new growth begins in spring. Remove spent blooms to promote continued flowering. Blooms on new wood, prune before new growth begins, as needed to shape and to thin stems. pruning time: late winter to early spring.

May bushes contain salicylic acid, which has aided the development of the pain killer Asprin.

Really, how interesting.

General characteristics of Spiraea Plant

İSPİRYA 2.jpg
The leaves may be spiral array, intestinal, white, red or yellow. Flowers are cluster or compound cluster. It is in the form of fruit capsules and contains 2-10 seeds.

Generation
Production is by separation and steel. Is applied in some species with S. salicifolia related to segregation. New crops will be obtained with separate crops as main crops removed in the spring will contain a root at the bottom. It is prepared in different times and different types of steel. The easiest way to produce with steel is by rooting the prepared wood steels, 15 cm long, in October-November. The receiving steel is sewn to open ground without being treated with any hormones. Stones rooted in the spring are surprising in the fall. The second way to produce it with steel is with green steel prepared 5-7,5 cm long from the shoots of that year on july. Prepared steels are planted on cold pillows without being immersed in hormone. The covers of the steel are also covered with nylon. Approximately 100% of rooting is obtained after about 5 weeks from steel removal. Rooted steels are surprised by the development pads in the autumn or early spring.
Steel production is also the third way, the steel is taken in the same way in June. This time the steels are also planted in low tunnels. There is no need to treat with hormones again and there is a rooting close to 100%. However, in the autumn, it is useful to treat with 8% powdered IBA to obtain a strong root system at the time of confusion. Rooted steels are again surprised by the development pads in the fall.

Ecological Requests
It develops well in moist, loamy soil. I prefer a lot of light.
s-l300.jpg

Use in Landscape
It is very resistant to dirty air. It is used alone in parks and gardens. Something from flowers has a decorative appearance. It is therefore highly preferred.
It is also suitable for growing in places such as balconies and terraces, such as bags used in fencing facilities.

Very nice and pink flowers. They are looking very beautiful. Spiraea is a genus of about 80 to 100 species of shrubs in the family Rosaceae and it is native to the Northern Hemisphere. Flower colors include pink, red, yellow, and white, depending on the variety.

The Pink May Bush ( Japanese Spiraea ) plants are also called Spiraea x bumalda.
Showy clusters of dark pink flowers from late spring through summer, often appearing two toned as buds turn into blooms.
Virtually an all year round charmer, the foliage will vary according to the season.

Spiraea_japonica_Shirobana_2005_2951_q.jpeg

Gorgeous variegated creams, pinks, and minty greens during spring to lush green in the summertime, and then absolutely stunning deep reds and burnished golds in autumn/ winter!!!
In the depths of winter these may lose all their leaves for a short time just before the new season's leaf buds form.

Lovely Compact variety grows to about 1 m tall, 1.2 m wide with nicely rounded form.
Perfect for hedging and borders, especially long driveways and fence-lines, single, scattered or group plantings in fact just about anywhere in your garden.

@ctrl-alt-nwo, That's very interesting blog post about Spiraea. Beautiful bunch flowers indeed. Among the easiest flowering shrubs to grow, spireas are often used in foundation plantings, as hedges, and in perennial gardens. Most spireas bloom in late spring to midsummer. Flower colors include pink, red, yellow, and white, depending on the variety. Some types have colorful fall foliage. Size depends on the species and variety, and can range from 2 to 10 feet tall and wide. Low-growing bumald spirea (S. bumalda) and medium-sized Japanese spirea (S. japonica) can be used throughout the landscape. Vanhoutte spirea (S. vanhouttei), the classic bridal wreath spirea, grows up to 10 feet tall and 20 feet wide, so give it plenty of elbow room. Masses of small, white flower clusters cover the plant in the spring.
Spireas are small to medium sized deciduous shrubs that produce cascades of flowers in spring and summer.

Good comment with some extra info.

Wonderful flowers indeed best blog post. I have to add some thing. There is always the right strain for every garden. The best known in Northern Europe is the so-called Bridal Wreath Spiraea with a height of 1-2 meters and widely overhanging branches. This bush can be perfectly used as a hedge plant and in April and May exudes a unique romance with its white blossoms. Similar is the newer variety of Spiraea cinerea ‘Grefsheim’. It also loves freestanding hedges landscaping so that it can show off its wide- arching branches.
From May to June blooms the unpretentious Astilbe, which can reach a height of up to 3 meters and with its white/pink blossoms it is often used as a hedge plant in parks. The bushy Spiraea densiflora, which blooms in May and is remarkably robust and healthy, can be often seen in gardens and along pathways. Dense pink flowers and long lasting foliage characterize this shrub. Thank you for sharing community.

i can definitely tell my bro to find me this one he is a expert in finding i will tell him about it :)

It is an ornamental work which is made up to 2 meters in length if it is left from the ground and it is branched into thin branches very often. There are up to 60 species. There are very small flowers in the shape of a cluster and leaves in a very small structure, green and pink. Early in the spring, pinkish red and white flowers bloom. Park and gardens can be used on groups of grass fields on a single or group of rock gardens.

I saw my relatives 4 years ago when I went to the garden. I photographed it because I liked Transformors more. It seems to me. Does not it look like you? @ctrl-alt-nwo

Transformors? I don't understand, do you mean the Tranformors movies, like robots and fighting?

Yeah. Sorry I missed it. Because of automatic correction.

As I know you like silly comments too, here is one. When I have read your title I thought this.

Good try, but not relevant enough to the topic, thanks anyway :)

wow..post is very nice I am very interested to see the beautiful flower sir

These pink May Bush flowers are very pretty. These would have been ideal for my fence on the west side where the cows often come very close. But the heat would just melt these flowers! I have to wait till the climate has drastically changed in the future!
I wonder how you could go around Sydney to find all these varieties of plants and flowers!

Cheers.

May Bush will not grow in your Country, it's too hot. Actually, all my photos quite close to my home.

You are so lucky! You are practically surrounded by nature and flowers loving people!!
That's really a boon!!

Cheers.
