The ego is nothing if it isn’t thoughts, specifically thoughts about me and my life. The ego is created and sustained by thoughts about me. When this type of egoic thinking stops or is simply ignored, identification shifts from the ego to Essence. That is why meditation is important for those seeking freedom from ego-identification. Meditation and other techniques that quiet the egoic mind (the voice in your head) or cultivate detachment from it can help you be in the flow and stay there.
