"Mindfulness" is a popular buzzword in the spiritual arena.
Many different spiritual practices include some variation of mindfulness, often as a core component.
Of course, this is an excellent idea, as it teaches us to become more aware of what is around us, as well as tuning in to our own inner states.
What's at the end of YOUR rainbow?
What can sometimes feel a little confusing is that many people will practice a sort of "selective" mindfulness. Mostly, this isn't done out of malice — instead, it is the result of a limited interpretation of what mindfulness means.
Will your efforts bear fruit...?
An example might be the exceptionally empathic person who's acutely aware of everyone's feelings and constantly tends to the emotional well-being of others... but who (for example) might park their car in front of someone's driveway, blocking it.
From simple observation, it often holds true that people deep in a spiritual practice practice high levels of spiritual/emotional consciousness, but remarkably low levels of physical consciousness. They may seem perfectly "at one" with the Universe, while they forget to pay their electric bill and get a ticket for speeding in a school zone.
Let us remember that mindfulness applies to all aspects of life, not just to the spirit. It is about being aware of our interaction with — and impact on — all things.
And, by extension, being deeply in a spiritual practice does not give us a "mystical get-out-of-jail-free card" from being Present in the physical world with its seemingly mundane tasks.
So on this Monday, I invite you to be mindful of all aspects of mindfulness!
Bright Blessings!
You are not alone!

Haha' hand up here - pretty shite at paying bills etc on time but reckon this has less to do with mindfulness and more to do with being an airhead!
An interesting read.
