So @flauwy has been bugging me to add a subscription option to Herons, where the cards are kept by the owner and player and a subscription fee pays for the system costs. Technically this is easy, as it was built into the bot from the beginning, but managing the thing looks difficult. However, I'm going to add the option to do it that way beginning with the season which starts on September 30, and I figure it's good to announce that ahead of time so you can save up the DEC if you want to.
Five Important Things To Know:
- This is optional. the current system will continue to run and anyone who doesn't opt in to subscriptions will keep going on as before.
- Only the card owner can subscribe. If you're a player who really wants cards, talk to your owner.
- Owners under the subscription model are responsible for managing their own players and handling their own card distribution deals. I don't find new players, I don't negotiate deals, and I'm not responsible for disputes over cards after they leave my accounts. Owners can continue to use the Otterworks Discord to find players or advertise their accounts.
- Players under the subscription model should be clear that they're trusting the owner to follow through. Owners of existing accounts, please get your players' permission.
- Cards will move automatically, but handling subscriptions is all manual for the time being, so you'll want to confirm things with me on Discord.
How to subscribe:
Subscriptions are on a per-season basis. Prior to a season, send DEC according to the below table from your registered owner account to @herons-unlimited with a memo indicating which account you're subscribing for, and then message me on Discord that you've done that. (You can also do this within the season if you want, but any cards previously claimed will not be reversed.) Cards will be sent to your registered owner account instead of to Ottermaker.
Rare Summoner Level | DEC Per Season Per Account |
---|---|
3-4 | 2500 |
5-6 | 5000 |
7-8 | 8000 |
Paying for multiple seasons in advance is fine; when subscriptions run out, accounts will revert to the original method. Each season's subscription is good through season reward claiming for that season. No refunds will be given in the event of owners undelegating from accounts or players leaving midseason. If you subscribe to multiple seasons and end up wanting to go back to the original method before it expires you can have a refund as DEC is available.
I want to emphasize that you're paying for a more limited service under this method. While the blockchain code gets the attention, managing players, handling assets, and evening out the variation in card rewards is most of the work and most of the value that Herons adds. Know that before you take it on.
I stumbled upon this heron's thing. Can you explain what it is or point to a post that explains it?

It's a system of staking accounts for Splinterlands. Card owners delegate to our accounts, staked players play them, and the earnings are split automatically. Best intro post is probably this one: https://steempeak.com/splinterlands/@tcpolymath/introducing-herons-unlimited-automatic-staking-management-for-splinterlands
