Brief history about the world cup
Thirty two (32) teams will be competing for the gold in less than a week for this year edition of the prestigious and yet famous FIFA trophy (world cup) In Russia June 2018..

The FIFA World Cup was founded in 1930, with Uruguay being the first country to host this masterpiece event with just 13 nations participating . The first goal of the FIFA world cup history was scored by Lucien Laurent of France. The tournament was won by Uruguay defeating Argentina 4-2 in the final..

After the first ever FIFA world cup which 13 teams competed in, 16 teams competed in the following editions of the world cup before The tournament was expanded to 24 teams in
1982 and then to 32 in the year 1998.

The highest goal scorer in the world cup is Miroslav Klose of Germany with 16 goals and he is closely followed by Delima Ronaldo of Brazil with 15 goals.. Both players are no longer active players.

Brazil has won the most FIFA world cups trophy five (5) times, Closely followed by Germany and Italy with four (4) FIFA world cup trophy wins.

Germany are the current FIFA World Cup winner.. A tittle they won by defeating Argentina with a 1-0 win at the tournament hosted by Brazil in 2014..
