Barcelona announced on Friday the donation of 200,000 euros to victims of the recent earthquake in Mexico.

According to the club's website, "Barcelona will donate to UNICEF (the United Nations Children's Fund) 200,000 euros for those affected by the recent earthquake in Mexico."

On Wednesday, the death toll was 337, according to Mexican officials, before announcing a rise to 345.

The quake caused the collapse of 38 buildings in the capital, and search and rescue operations are still underway in some areas affected by the earthquake.

The earthquake occurred on September 19, days after another 8.2 magnitude earthquake hit the southern coast of Mexico on the 8th of the same month, killing about 100 people.

Prior to the earthquake, many people participated in earthquake-fighting exercises in Mexico on the anniversary of the devastating 1985 earthquake.

It should be noted that on the morning of September 19, 1985, an earthquake measuring 8 on the Richter scale struck the Mexican capital, killing at least 5,000 people.fc-barcelona-91451-1024x576.jpg
