If you haven't heard by now, Dana White trashed Mario Yamasaki's officiating of the co-main event at UFC Fight Night 125 in Belem, Brazil. The bout ended in round two with a dominant stoppage by Valentina Shevchenko over Priscila Cachoeira.
There were points where Cachoeira took damage and showed no signs of intelligently defending herself to warrant a stoppage, but Yamasaki did nothing. Off the top of my head I can think of many times Yamasaki seemed like he was daydreaming during a fight he was serving as a referee for. Most recently, the Kevin Lee vs. Michael Chiesa fight but the earliest I remember is letting Matt Hughs take a direct groin shot from Frank Trigg at UFC 52.
Dana White said on Instagram after the event he hopes he is never seen in the UFC's cages again, but it is not something in his control since officials are chosen by the athletic commissions.
"I am hoping after this scary, incompetent showing he hopefully will never set foot in that Octagon again." - Dana White
Can't argue that sentiment.
