Rory MacDonald looking to start a Crypto trend in MMA at Bellator 192

in sports •  7 years ago  (edited)

During yesterday's media conference call for Bellator 192, Rory MacDonald said he arranged sponsorship in the form of digital cash DASH. He said he hopes the trend catches on as another source of revenue for fighters not only in Bellator but the entire sport of MMA.

"This will hopefully be the first of many sponsorships with DASH and hopefully, what I see is DASH coming to the MMA community and hopefully Bellator jumps in on it and a lot of other fighters can reap the rewards. That's my main goal, that it's not only going to be just for me but for other fighters and even Bellator." -Rory MacDonald

Crypto made big news towards the end of last year when Bitcoin hit $10,000 and a lot of other digital currencies grew as well. If this takes off in MMA like MacDonald wants, could this be a solution to the fighter pay issue across MMA?

Bellator 192 will be the promotion's first event under the newly branded Paramount Network and takes place January 20 at The Forum in California. Rory MacDonald faces welterweight champion Douglas Lima in the main event.
