Here's the thing that most people are missing about NFL contracts -- Deshaun Watson's is still the best, player friendly contract in the history of football.
Russell Wilson's contract is fifteen million dollars more than Watson's over the same period of time. Kyler Murray's contract is half a million dollars more over the same period of time.
Both of those contracts are extensions. Murray's new contract doesn't kick in until next season. Wilson's contract doesn't kick in for two seasons. Neither contract has the guaranteed money of Watson's.
The Browns managed to single-handedly reset the entire market with Watson.
