Tagging the Red Birds

A couple of things almost got me very upset yesterday. One, I tweeted that Brent Suter was “on fire” through four innings. That tweet of course jinxed his 5th inning, wherein he gave up 3 runs on 2 Cardinal long balls. The second was Ed Sedar sending Saladino home on Suter’s “double” in the bottom of 4. What the hell Ed? The Brewers had their lead off guy coming up next…why take that chance? Why are you killing a rally with two of your best hitters due up? Sending Saladino wasn’t even close – Saladino was out by a mile. Have I mentioned this before? Ed, you are killing us!

Fortunately, Villar came through in the 7th; Villar didn’t strike out with runners on 2nd and 3rd and crushed one to left field. That bomb took Milwaukee to 8 runs, and eventually a win that didn’t require Hader or Knebel. Ryan Braun actually looked like he is alive again while batting in the 5th spot, the Brewers actually got Matt Carpenter out twice (a strike out even), and the series is off to a good start for MIL.

Top 5 / Worst 5 Plays

In order of actual outcome against MLB standards (like if you have runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs and you strike out (very, very bad) vs. runners on 2nd and 3rd with two and you home run (very, very good)). That said, Mr. Jekyll and Hyde that is Jonathan Villar led both lists yesterday.

I forgot to save this to Google this afternoon...needless to say, Villar provided the best and worst play of the game yesterday.

Today’s Preview

Today it is the New Thin White Duke against Wacha. The overview is as such:

Last time out, Davies got knocked around pretty good and exited after the 4th inning. His DK score was .2, whereas his FD score was 6 pts. Wacha, on the other hand, had a very good game against the Royals, but couldn’t get the win. His corresponding DFS scores were 22.6 and 35, respectively.

Lineup Data

Not much different from yesterday, with the meat of Milwaukee’s order in Yelich, Shaw, and Jesus having very good #s against right handed pitching. The Cardinals, on the other hand, haven’t had much success against RHP; lots of k’s out there to be had, but will Davies be able to locate? That is the question for us all

Defense

Actually, the Cards improved tonight with Carpenter at 1B.

Prediction

I think the Brewers lose tonight. Davies is still pretty shaky; as badly as I want to see him succeed and become a true #3, borderline #2 starter for this team, I don’t think tonight is the night he turns the corner. I’m going to say there is a 38% chance for a Brewer loss against Wacha…however, let’s go Crew.
