The Netherlands baseball and softball association have confirmed the death of the so-called "tallest baseball player" Dutch pitcher Loek Van Mil at 34.
The association expressed sympathy for the player's family.
"The KNBSB is very grateful to Mil for what he has done in his career for Dutch baseball and wishes the surviving relatives strength to cope with this major loss," the organization's statement stated.
It did not elaborate on the cause of Mil's death. Van Mil stands 7-feet 1-inch tall. He spent his career in the minor leagues where he fought against different teams.
He has also played for the Japan Pacific League, the Dutch Major League, and the Australian Baseball League. The player also represented the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic.
Van Mil was involved in a hiking accident in December in Australia where he suffered multiple fractures, a brain hemorrhage and several head injuries after he fell and hit his neck with a kidney.
A few months after the incident, Van Mil immediately announced his retirement from playing baseball.

It's so sad to die at such a young age. Good he made the best use of he's height.
