Tottenham 2-0 Manchester city: why I believe it was a masterclass by Jose Mourinho

in sportstalk •  5 years ago

Good afternoon Steemians.

In this post i will be disagreeing to what this article by Jermaine Jenas (A football pundit) has posted.

In my opinion I don't rate him as a pundit due to always contradicting himself and always talking rubbish but hey that's just me i'll let you decide your thoughts on him.

In this post i will be disagreeing to his article.

so let the debate begin...

Why I think it was a Jose masterclass.

If we look at the two teams we can see they are both struggling with form but the difference between the two is the money put into the clubs. Manchester city have spent spent spent whereas Tottenham have not spent as much. Looking at the two teams its easy to say Manchester city has the more superior squad.

Going into the game I personnaly was expecting Manchester city to dominate possession and control the game and for the most part they did just that. I think Jose knew that that would happen as well and he decided to gamble instead of trying to match Manchester city's attack he instead let Manchester city control the game and hope that Tottenham wont concede and it worked Manchester city would begin to get frustrated and this is where Tottenham can pounce and get a result which they do.

Manchester city have struggled scoring goals and this is what Jose took advantage of,

Mancheter city had 19 shots on goal in the match whereas Tottenham only had 3 shots the entire game and scored 2 of them.

Jermaine Jenas also stated and i quote "It paid off for Mourinho in the end, but Spurs fans will not allow that kind of negativity in every home game." Meaning that the fans wont like other teams dominating Tottenham at their own ground but when its Manchester city almost every club has done the exact same thing.

Manchester united parked the bus and allowed Manchester city to control the game and they easy beat Manchester united.

almost every team that faces Manchester city will defend and rely on counter attacking football as it is very difficult to play at the same tempo and not get frustrated at Manchester city's tactical fouls.

Overall i believe Jermaine Jenas to be wrong in his assessment of the game.

However please do let me know what your thoughts are i would be very interested in your opinions so please comment below :)

Thanks for reading.

Inexplicable misses by Manchester City were the reason for their defeat by Tottenham, not Jose Mourinho's tactics, says ex-Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas.
