Schedules for major individual awards including Cy Young Award have been made public.
The Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA),released a schedule to announce the winners for the four major individual awards that are in charge of selecting the winners on its official Twitter account.
According to the report, the MVP awards will be announced on November 13, starting with the rookie of the year on Nov. 12, the director of this year's Cy Young Award. Prior to this, the top three candidates in each category will be announced as finalists on Nov. 5.
The four awards are selected by a vote by BBWAA reporters. A total of 30 reporters, two from each of the 15 regions, will proceed with the vote. Voting took place after the end of the regular season.
In case of the Cy Young Award, a reporter will select the top five spots. The top-ranked player will earn five points, the second-ranked player four, the third-ranked player three points, the fourth-ranked player two points and the fifth-ranked player one point, and the highest-scoring player will be selected for the Cy Young Award.
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander hyun-jin ryu, with 14 wins, five losses and a 2.32 ERA in 29 games this season, is one of the nominees for the award. He slowed down to a 9.95 ERA in four games between August and September, but rebounded to 1.29 (three earned runs in 21 innings) in his last three games, leaving a possibility.
If Ryu wins the Cy Young voting, he will remain the first Korean in the major leaguer to receive votes in the Cy Young voting. Park never made it to the Cy Young voting. This is because prior to 2010, each voter could only pick the third spot.
