The agony of conceding a last minute goal...

2nd game of the season...

This morning once again our beer bellies were tucked in nicely in our football shirts for another sunday morning amateur league football game. Due to some unavailabilities we were only with eleven players, which is always a handicap, especially in the second half, when some players get tired or maybe even injured, there is no substitute available. Our opponent did have that luxury.

We started well, even though our opponent played very technical football. But we managed to score twice before the half hour mark. Once myself, with a header on a magnificent center. And once by our star player with the three lungs and incredible strike in his feet.
Sadly we conceded the 1-2 in the last minute of the first half. But still, we were in front and dominating the game.
But then the opponents bring in some substitutes and we have none. With every minute that is played we get it harder and physically. The 1-3 gets blown off by the referee because he had a thought that I was offside, no way, but no VAR in our league...
And then the inevitable happens in the last minute, the opponts try a desperate last attack, the ball goes through the bunch in our box, and one opponent scores in the left corner.

Agony, that's the only word to describe a last minute goal you concede that costs the team 2 points.
I have been through it before, and it still hurts, every single time.

Oh well, the beers afterwards made a lot good!

Sincerely,
