The Spaniard has reportedly ditched the number nine shirt he's been wearing since he arrived at Stanford Bridge last season.
Morata who recently welcomed a set of twins has been ecstatic. The change in the number of his jersey is a tribute to his new born children.
Morata came on in the start of the 2017/2018 campaign as Chelsea's record signing. He had a very nice form at the beginning of the season but with the new year, things took a drastic turn and he scored just once all year in the Premier league. This caused him a place in Spain's national team.
The player now has something to cheer him up as his girlfriend, Alice has given birth to their twins, Alessandro and Leonardo on July 29th. This is the reason for his picking that number.
Morata have apologized to fans who have been already bought jerseys with the number 9 shirts.
The club are offering a change of jerseys to those who have already bought the ones with number 9 in line with Morata's request.
