It was nobody's expectation that the Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo would follow his former boss Zinedine Zidane's step by ending business with the UEFA Champions League winners.

The Real Madrid all time highest goal scorer Ronaldo left Madrid after the world cup campaign to join the Italian Serie A club Juventus having helped them [Madrid] them win many trophies in the space of nine years he used with the Spanish club.

Even with Ronaldo in the team, Madrid finished the LaLiga campaign third last season behind the usual rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Thus, the Atletico goal keeper has been expecting the club to replace their lost superstar as their favourite targets remain Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

"We cannot jump the truth that they really lost a gem. Cristiano is one of the best player in the world and he owns a lot of their club records. I am sure they will buy another star player which I don't know for now. They will make sure their squad is great again before the start of the season so I can't be sure now of who will have the upper hand." Oblak explained to reporters when he was questioned about the coming season.
