With what Cristiano Ronaldo achieved last night for Juventus, Fiorentino Perez would be regretting why he didn't give in to the Portuguese' demand.
Cristiano Ronaldo had just asked that he be given a salary that matches that of Lionel Messi and Neymar. He deserved to make that request. He played a large part, if not the largest, in getting them their four champions league trophies in five years. He'd been the highest goal scorer in the competition for four years. His achievements for Real Madrid outclassed the other players', Messi's and Neymar's, for their respective clubs. It was something he should have done for him. Yet, in all his high horses, Perez wouldn't be moved and went ahead and sold the player to Juventus.
Now, the repercussion have emerged. Real Madrid were wiped, like tissue paper, out of the competition they've come to be known for. They couldn't even leave at the quarter finals.
Meanwhile, Juventus needed something special to come back after a two goal deficit. Ronaldo steps up and delivers. What he would have done for Real Madrid, he did for Juventus.
Zidane is back at the Bernabèu. I pity him. I like him but now he'd know what it means to coach a Real Madrid without the king.
