Although he won his first round match at the ongoing Wimbledon tournament, that was just something secondary for Feliciano Lopez as he had another achievement.
His appearance in this event has now but come his 66th Grand Slam event in a row as he has now go on to break the all-time high record of 65 set by Roger Federer.
Speaking later, Lopez noted that at the time he was about breaking the record, he thought to himself and appraised himself for being able to beat Federer at one thing at least.
He also noted that achieving such a record meant a lot to him and he was definitely proud of his ability to remain consitent.
He added that it was not really about the number of Grand Slams played, but more about how many years he had been playing it at the top level as that remained the most important thing.
