Simona Halep faced opponent, Angelique Kerber in their quarter final match at the French Open as Garbine Muguruza also went up head to head against Maria Sharapova in the other quarter final for the day.
The match between Halep and Kerber saw the World No. 1 come up from behind in the first set to triumph over her German opponent and progress to the semifinals.
Kerber won the first set 6-7 before Halep upturned the scores in the 2nd and 3rd sets as she posted scores of 6-3 and 6-2 respectively.
A two time runner-up at the Roland Garros, Halep will be facing Garbine Muguruza, the 2016 Roland Garros champion in the semifinals.
Muguruza had also faced off against Maria Sharapova in the second quarterfinals of the day, hammering in from all angles to win both sets with score lines of 6-2 and 6-1.
Halep will be looking to cage the Spaniard in as they go head on in the semifinals and prevent her from getting a shot at carting home a third Grand Slam.
In the process, Halep will also be looking to book a space for herself at the Roland Garros and get into a third final, while having her top ranking still intact.
At the other end, an all American semifinal will see Madison Keys play it out with Sloane as they contest for a slot in the finals.
