For the past year on the Steem Blockchain a monthly competition was run by Streetstyle which encouraged users to Power up with Steem on the First day of each month, well i think we should bring it back!
How to enter for 1 May 2020
The whole idea of this is to encourage Steemians to Power up Steem power they may have sitting around on 1 May 2020
Steemit accounts that are powering down are not eligible, winners that choose to start a power-down after winning a delegation prize will have the delegation removed - we will be checking :)

5 Guidelines to Win Prizes for SPUD
1, Steemit users must have a reputation score under 70 and more than 50 STEEM POWER (prior to SPUD) and no more than 15,000 Steem Power.
2, Steemit user has to have a reputation of above 30
3, Participants have to have at least 1 post prior to 1 May which talks about this competition, using this tag #spud4steem
4, Power Up must be done on 1 May 2020
5, Your post on 1 May can just be screenshots of your account before and after your power up, this post is up to you
use the tag #spud4steem
If you meet the 5 above criteria you can consider your self entered, How we will work out prize winners will be based on the % increase of your Steem power, not how much you powered up
Example:
User 1 has 100 Steem already powered up, they follow the 5 guidelines and power up 15 more Steem power which would be a 15% increase
User 2 has 200 Steem and powers up 15 more steen power which equates to a 7.5% increase, so in this scenario user 1 has a higher % and is more likely to win a prize when compared to user 2
These prizes and gifts are designed to promote powering up on the Steem Blockchain to give a better understanding of how Steem power backs the Steem Ecosystem.
Winners will be announced 2 days after the power up day finishes, this post will give people an opportunity to advise me if any calculations are incorrect or if i have missed anyone :)
Once another day has passed, prizes will be distributed to the winning accounts
This account and another New Zealand based account @kiwi-crypto have started the ball rolling prize wise, but we are asking the community for help as well
Sponsors can
- Delegate steem power for 3 weeks
- Steem power gifts
- Curate #spud4steem
Hoping to have the Help of @steemcurator01 to help with up-votes for this project
Please re-steem this post so we can get the word out on Steemit, we are only a week and a few hours away until 1 May 2020!
If anyone would like to translate this please feel free to do so
Fine Print
Due to the International date line this will start @ 12.00am 1 May 2020 New Zealand time and finish 36 hours later when America Samoa hits 11.59PM on 1 May 2020

Thank you for picking up SPUD again @kiwiscanfly.
It will be great to keep #spud4steem going.
We will be happy to help with the prizes - 100% upvote for the 1st prize, 50% for 2nd, and 25% for third.
Hope that will help.
And we will feature this in the 100 Days posts as well.

Hello
The May #SPUD4STEEM will be our 12 month anniversary of restarting it, i was wondering if you would be able to provide 5 x mystery votes for our May winners? could be 1% or 5% just a little sprinkling..
We have powered up around 94,000SP in the past 11 months and i am hoping that increases going forward.
Good evening from NZ :)

What we would really like to support are people who are genuinely buying STEEM to power up - rather than just powering up their saved up 50/50 liquid rewards.
And for buy-ins it would need to be genuine buying as opposed to just sending it to the exchange one week and bringing it back to the platform to power up the next week.
Do you think there is any way this idea can be incorporated?
Generally we really want to find ways to encourage people to build their stake on Steem in a meaningful way.
We want whole new pods of Dolphins to be appearing on the platform - and for them to be doing proper curation rather than just sending it off to the big voting 'systems'.
Maybe we should do Dolphin of the Week awards with big rewards...
With the size of the votes we give out, becoming a Dolphin can be a whole lot easier than it used to be.

When I created a community, what I think about right now is how to collect power ups and help other friends. if for power up from real money? I'm not a rich man. but I'm only content creator, because that's what I can help for now to the Steemit community.
I agree with that,
but I also have other ideas. what if we make POWER UP CAMPAIGN
Anyone who powers up with their real money will get a big vote from you @steemcurator01
it will get a lot of people excited

We definitely want to encourage power-ups and people building their stake on the platform.
The SPUD4STEEM monthly event does this currently.
Power-ups could only be rewarded if people are buying STEEM to power up - not just powering up their liquid STEEM and SBDs.
And they would have to keep it powered up, and use it to vote manually to bring value to their communities.
And steemcurator01 votes would have to be moderated so as not to encourage gaming of the system.
We are open to ideas and offers...

I definitely second to this. In fact, during our presentation and e-meetup campaigns. I have always told people not to be enticed by the 50/50 rewards system but instead focus on long-term account growth.
While it is true that many of our people here is still in need of financial income to help us recover from the pandemic, I and our people here know enough how significant having a good amount of Steem power.
I have cashout my first earnings here on Steem to support the printing of 50+ shirts. But after that, I have envisioned myself to be one of the top promoters of the platform by setting an example.

We are planning to run the May #SPUD4STEEM under the current guidelines, however going forward a bigger emphasis is going to require winners to set their post rewards to 100% power up while they have a Delegated prize in their possession (21 days).
At the moment they can set to 50/50 and gain huge SBD's and $ can leave steemit.
We are seeing exactly what you are talking about
It defeats the true purpose of #SPUD4STEEM
mmmm that's something to think about

Maybe a late tag-on.
Anyone who reaches Dolphin status (5K SP) with at least a 10% power-up, and who hasn't been powering down in the past month, could get a tasty upvote from @steemcurator01...
And be using their SP for manual curation.
Do you think that might help bring the Dolphins back to the Bay of Steem ?

It would be interesting to know how much of the STEEM was actually bought on Exchanges v just powering up liquid rewards.
The winner was a case in point...

I was happy to see @dcooperation able to win something, because I'm powering up there all the earning for 2 years almost, but if it's based on the % we will power up, it will be hard for us as a very little community to win something.

Hi
I think little community members should participate and enter no matter how little they can power up on the day.
you may not win something, but entering shows intent in the principle of #spud4steem
We will also be curating this tag #spud4steem
