Hi,
Let us discuss the main differences between SDE and SRE from the following points:

Software Development Engineer (SDE):

A Software Development Engineer (SDE) is responsible for creating cross-platform applications and software systems, applying the principles of computer science, computer engineering, information technology and analysis to help organizations and individuals make informed decisions.

They make all modifications in various software, according to client requirements, and are involved in optimizing an application for better performance delivery.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE):

Site reliability engineering mainly focuses on enhancing system availability and reliability while DevOps focuses on speed of development and delivery while enforcing continuity.

An SRE team is composed of site reliability engineers who have a background in both operations and development.

From my year of Experience, both field have their own identity and they both are in high demand.

As a fresher, you can choose any field among both according to your interest.

But my personal suggestion as fresher you must choose a career in SRE as a career.

As SRE field is high in demand in the global market, the salary paid to SRE professional as a fresher is also high.

SRE salaries vary on different factors, including academic qualifications, additional skills, certifications, and professional experience.

The SRE salary ranges from $100K to $120K The national average is $1 20K

The Fresher of SRE starts from $850K to $130K. The average salary of SRE can be from $120K to $180K

The highest-paid salary to SRE can be start From $180K to $250K

Hence Site reliability engineering (SRE) has a great and promising future. SRE is one of the most IT skills in the IT sectors.

To meet this demand and help organizations identify knowledgeable talent, the GSDC Foundation has created its SRE certification.

If you're looking for a better career I personally suggest to go for SRE Foundation Certification

GSDC's certification is aimed towards sharing a deep understanding of all the advanced site reliability engineering certified professionals.

The purpose of the GSDC SRE Foundation Certification qualification is to confirm that a candidate has sufficient knowledge and understanding of the benefits of this certification.
