After a busy weekend, I'm spending my evening drinking a bit of mead. Mead is an alcoholic beverage that is fermented with honey instead of other sugars. There is evidence at ancient archaeology sites that mead has been enjoyed for thousands of years.
This particular bottle is made in Grand Rapids, Michigan by Cascade winery. It's got a nice straight ahead honey flavor. Sometimes meads are combined with other fruit wines, or even fermented with fruit. But in this case, it's just honey.
It's a bit odd that they call this honey wine, as it feels a lot stronger than wines that I'm familiar with. It's more like a honey liquor. But it's not quite as strong as krupnik, so it's somewhere in the middle.
That's awesome @methus. I used to brew beer and I once made mead. It turned out good but damn, the honey was not cheap. Cheers!
