Events have always been a part of our lives in the sense that either good or bad,it is always an avenue to gather together to put on a united front for a cause.Back in the days we get invites to events through advert via media channel either television or radio or the newspaper.Special events are heralded by special invitation to home or office addresses.
Now to the world of today, the world has gone digital and this implies that invitations are now sent through digital channel like emails, social media pages or text messages. If you need a lot of crowd in your free event, drop an invite on instagram or twitter or facebook definitely the turnup will be massive. This has made the centralised media provide an avenue to reach more people by making sure you pay so as to promote this so called event. The more money you spend on promoting your event, the more people will see and be likely to be there or show interest.
Unlike the traditional invite back in the days, centralization and civilization has taken over the world. The email which is the most commonly used means of sending out invite and one of the cheapest and easiest form known to man can be somehow unpredictable in it's result. People might turn up for this event or it might turn out to be a flop. Some people will register and decide not to come due to some reasons while some who are interested might not be able to register for the event. This is all what the Kickback team thought about before providing us with the best solution possible to fight this problem faced by event organizers.
Kickback is a closed source project built on the Ethereum blockchain and also listed on the stateofthedapp my ethereum wallet list as one of the best Mew dapps in the world right now.
This project was born during the London Ethereum codeup meetup by Makoto Inoue who is also the founder. He is an ENS smart contract developer who is also supported by Jedd Lau and Ramesh Nair for their roles in both the front and back end of the platform.
Kickback was created so as to enable event organizers experience large turnout for their events and also to make sure only serious minded people show up for this events. They noticed that some people register for events just for the fun of it with no aim to attend. Why spam an invite just for the fun of it right?. To tackle the issue of low turnout at events, Kickback team decided to make sure individual registering for this events deposit a substantial amount of money in crypto form (Ethereum or DAI) before the event date.If for any circumstance, a registered person did not show up, then his or her deposited token will be shared among the attendees.
With this solution, event goers will think twice before registering for an event.
Firstly, to use this platform you need to have Metamask, Opera or Brave for your computer or Coinbase wallet,Trust wallet or Stratus wallet for your mobile.
After signing in with my metamask as you can see below,
You then get a request to create an account.
Once this is done, you then go ahead to click on your signature page that popped up with your metamask page.
Once all this 3 processes are done, you are logged in to the platform and you can register for any event you want by making sure you have the required means in your wallet.
- EVENT: This page is for potential users or event organisers to go through the past and future events hosted by Kickback. On clicking one of the future events I was redirected to my metamask wallet below:
This shows that if I was to go for the event, 10 DAI will be withdrawn from my wallet as a deposit for my seat reservation. They also informed every potential attendees of the rules guiding these events or project as seen below:
Kickback rules:
Everyone commits a small amount of ETH/Token when they RSVP.
Any no-shows or late shows who did not turn up by the arrive by cut off time will lose their commitment and will be split amongst the attendees.
After the event you can withdraw your post-event payout.
Please remember:
Once you RSVP, you cannot cancel.
The event organiser must mark you as attended in order for you to qualify for the payout.
You must withdraw your payout within the post-event cooling period.
For more detail please see Getting started and Terms and conditions.
Please Note
After the event, one has the opportunity to withdraw the initial deposit made before the event within 7 days, after which the the unclaimed ones will be returned to the event organisers by default.
- PRICE: In full view on the site is the charges of events for the benefits of potential event organisers.Every individual is charged 1$ and this will counted when they arrive in time for the event. There is also a discount for recurrent customers as you can see below.
For recurring events, we will offer a quarterly payment of $150 ($50/month) for normal events but $45 ($15/month)
They also have a pricing plan for non profit organisation where you are giving the option to choose a quarterly payment for organisation that host events from time to time.
A company based in Nigeria named wecoin will like to host an event about how to benefit from crypto with a limited budget. They then outsourced their invites to Kickback to help make sure people turn up for the event. They are expecting 200 attendees and Kickback is charging them 1$ per individual and this is to be paid at the end of a successful event based on the terms and condition of Kickback.
At the end of the event, only 180 people turned up which is above the usual 30 - 60% the event company usually work with.So they would have to pay Kickback 180 x 1$ as the expense for a job well done.Remember that only the people who came on time for the event were paid for and at the end of the 7 days waiting period for attendees to claim there initial deposit, unclaimed ones will be given to the Wecoin team.
At the end of the day it is a win win situation for both the Wecoin team and the Kickback team.
- GUIDES:This category has the FAQ(Frequently asked questions) and also the rules that will guide event organisers bringing there business to the kickback team.
- It creates more awareness about cryptocurrency.
- It serves as a platform to promote high profile blockchain events.
- It gives event organizers financial freedom by making sure that there event is well attended hereby making it a success.
- They offer their services to only trusted organisations.
- Attendees are entitled to financial incentives due to absent registerers.
- Invoice are sent only on completion of a successful event
- It is created solely for the blockchain community because a novice will wonder what the token deposit is for.
- It discourages people who are not crypto wise to go for this events.
Kickback is helping to bridge the gap between an event organiser and its attendants. It helps event lovers secure a pass for the events they love and also helps the organisers ensure that there effort did not go to waste.I would like them to also expand their horizon to events outside the blockchain.By doing this people will be easily convinced to exchange their money to crypto.
I Will be rating them 4/5 for possible solution to an event crisis.
