Etheremon (Game Review) - Train Your Monsters

in stateofthedapps •  6 years ago  (edited)

If you are a gamer, then you would have already figured out that battling against monsters is particularly fascinating - or maybe it's just me; but this is one of my most preferred genres of games. And awesomely enough, I found this amazing game that has a combination of the battle of monsters with the blockchain technology - here I'm talking about Etheremon.

ETHEREUM + MONSTERS + VIRTUAL REALITY = ETHEREMON

Now you might be asking "what is Etheremon?" This is a portmanteau of "Ethereum" and "Monsters", which is a game built on the Ethereum erc721 blockchain by Nakasatoshi, and licensed under MIT. Have you ever thought about being in a virtual reality gaming environment where you would need to be capturing monsters to build some points which correlates to ethereum-tradable tokens? Then you should be looking at Etheremon.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this game is the fact that the monsters you own (which are also your assets) in the virtual gaming environment cannot be influenced by anyone (both in the real world and the gaming environment). And because it is built on blockchain technology, every of your advances, and monsters would be saved immutably for "eternity". Now, how would you like your monsters kept for life? Sounds like a pretty good idea huh? No wonder this game has earned a comfortable 33rd position in the State of The DApps ranking.

PLAYING YOUR MONSTERS

First of all, one of the sole purposes of this game is to capture virtual monsters, of which you would use to battle other monsters (mons), and in the process, you would evolve them and grow them into bigger, stronger, and more fierce monsters. The evolution of your monsters increases the ratings of your monsters; which can be traded on exchangers against ethereum and/or other cryptocurrencies. So the bigger your monster, the more the digital value it has.

This awesome game is both desktop and mobile friendly, so you can play it on both devices. But very importantly, you would need to sign up to the Etheremon portal, after which you would need to instal metamask on your browser (for those using desktop), but I would also recommend Cipher for those on mobile devices - this would enable you to select "Etheremon" from the pre-installed DApp list. So when you have done this, you can sync you eth wallet with the Etheremon DApp. That's the completion of the first task.

The second task would be the capturing of your monsters. Of course, this is needed for the initialization of the gaming process. And these monsters can be purchased from the Etheremon store right in the portal using ethereum as a means of payment. But for starters, you would be gifted with three free monsters to begin with, which are; "Omnom, Mintol, and Kyari". But I'm sure you would need the fiercest ones; at least to help you capture other monsters; so you would need to purchase them. And as you progress, you can check your stats and the monsters you have acquired and grown in the "my mons" tab right in your portal. Also, some mons do grow faster than others, and some also have the special ability of breeding new mons. Really! You should go get a monster. I'm sure you want to see the thriller of this game; here's a YouTube video for you.

To take your first adventure, you need to head over to the adventure page of the portal where you would put your monsters to battle, and also you would be required to explore some hidden places and untold magical sites for quests. It is in the completion of these quests that your monsters would be evolving into stronger monsters.

Apart from growing your monsters, there are other ways of earning in this game, like; selling some unique monsters directly to friends. Monsters do go extinct, while some new ones are constantly being created. But if you need an extinct powerful monster to perform a task; and I have the monster; that would be additional earnings for me, because I can sell directly to you. And awesomely enough, for every stage you are in, you can find an easy-to-understand on-screed direction to get to the next stage. So it would be a whole lot of fun playing Etheremon.

I'm sure you would need some screenshots for perusal, here I've got some for you.
