I watched and listened to President Trump's State of The Union speech, and I thought it was a great speech, and mostly agreed with the positions he spoke of. I am not a proponent of war of any kind, so cannot support war and violence against other people. I also am not in favor of the oil pipelines.
Most of his speech made a great deal of common sense. And I noticed that the Democratic party members who were present remained silent and unaffected by pretty much everything, including the story about the young Korean man who had been severely wounded and escaped from Korea and the story of the two sets of parents whose teen-age daughters had been murdered by members of the MS-13 group.
What is wrong with politicians who are so bent on destroying the other party that they can't even applaud or show any agreement of approval of such stories that would normally elicit the deepest levels of compassion from other decent humans. If there was any doubt in my mind about their agenda of only being in their positions for their own back, they spoke loud and clear with their silence and stillness during President Trump's speech.
President Trump spoke about the improved economy, lowering taxes for working families, bonuses paid to many workers from businesses with reduced tax liabilities. He referenced families being the center of American life, not government and bureaucracy. He celebrated and honored our veterans and protecting religious liberty. He said, "I call on the Congress to empower every Cabinet Secretary with the authority to reward good workers — and to remove Federal employees who undermine the public trust or fail the American people." How can Democratic members not support those words if they love our country and are representing and serving the people? How can any American not support such words?
He spoke in favor of allowing people with terminal illnesses who are not able to be helped with conventional medical treatments to be given access to experimental treatments. These people have been given a death sentence by Western medicine, and President Trump wants them to be allowed to fight for their own lives. What can possibly be wrong with that?
He wants to reduce the price of prescription drugs. A great goal if you ask me. He asked congress to provide funding to rebuild the crumbling infrastructure across America. Bring it on!
Where is the common sense of people who cannot support such ideologies and proposals.
My parents, who were farmers and children of immigrants, were Democrats, and I followed their beliefs for several years, but I believe my parents would be ashamed of their Democratic congress men and women of today.
