Matt Drudge and Google news make money off of doing this too. It's not wrong. It's simply sharing the news, which humans have been doing forever. If he makes a couple cents from it, so what? At least Facebook and Google stockholders aren't profiting!

no. Google shares blurbs/summaries, not the whole article. So does drudge. A short summary/teaser is fair use. Wholesale copying is not.

I agree, you should definitely link to the article and not copy the entire thing. But posting quotes from it or the first two paragraphs actually helps the outlet that put the article out. Traffic will flow to their site because you are showing excerpts of their work to a larger audience.
