TUTORIAL : BEGINNERS HOW TO SEND STEEM FROM POLONIEX TO STEEMIT

in steem-help •  8 years ago  (edited)

Hello I have been asked how do you send Steem from POLONIEX to STEEMIT here is how I do it . If you want to know how to send Steem from BITTREX to STEEMIT go to part 2 of this post..

So let's walk through this step by step and tell you how it's done for POLONIEX .

Step 1. Login to your Poloniex account

Step 2. Go to balances at top of page then click on Deposits & Withdrawals. BALANCES, DEPOSITS & WITHDRAWALS page will appear scroll down to Steem then slide to the right side of the page and left click Withdraw.

Step 3. This window will appear

Step 4. Where it says Address this is where your Steemit name goes (DO NOT USE @ and DO NOT USE CAPITAL LETTERS ) your name should look like this me-tarzan.

Step 5. Go to your wallet here on steemit then click on permissions and copy the one that says memo make sure you copy all of it , it is 53 characters long then paste it where it says memo.

Step 6. Where it says Amount type in the amount you wish to transfer from Poloniex to Steemit. Remember transfer fees are .01 steem . That is 2 cents if steem is $2.00. That is all that it will cost per transfer if you transfer 1 Steem or 20,000 Steem.

step 7. Check and recheck to make sure everything is correct. NOTE : I would suggest that you only transfer a small amount like say 1.0 Steem the first time to make sure you have the process understood completely.

Step 8. Left click Withdraw. POLONIEX will send you an e-mail for you to verify your withdraw. If you have 2FA POLONIEX will contact you by SMS .

If you have a problem. On the exchange page POLONIEX has a Troll Box on the right of the page with moderators that can help you hopefully resolve your problem.

Step 9. upvote and Follow @me-tarzan here on STEEMIT.
Hope this helps.

2017 November. Thanks me-tarzan. I just did this for the first time from Bittrex and it worked within a minute. Very smooth. Just one comment. I have two factor authentification turned on, so in my case it asked for the 2nd factor (6 digit number) on my iPhone, and I got the transfer immediately. I didn't have to wait for an email.

I'm trying to do such a transfer right now from Poloniex and it's taking quite a while (more than 20 minutes). Also I see 4 different keys in my wallet:

  • POSTING key
  • ACTIVE
  • MASTER
  • MEMO - it says the Memo one is for creating and reading memos ... Not very intuitive. I've tried with a small amount on this key and with a different small amount on the ACTIVE key which says it's for making transfers (sounds more logical). I'm curios whether one (and which one), both or none succeed ... and how long do they take

You are right to try it with a small amount. The transfer should be instantaneous. It was always instant for me, although I only tried with bittrex. The key to use is the memo key. Don’t use the private key or active key if you are RECEIVING steem. Don’t forget when you send steem, to include your steem name without the @ sign.

Well, on Poloniex at least it's not ... I start to be worried. I didn't include the @ sign, just "sorin.cristescu". After more than one hour both my transfers are "Pending" on Poloniex ...

Did you get the verification email?

yes, and confirmed the withdrawal. it went from "awaiting confirmation" to "pending" and ... it's still pending after more than 2 hours now. I've opened a support ticket with Poloniex, let's see how they react ...

Hi! I am a content-detection robot. This post is to help manual curators; I have NOT flagged you.
Here is similar content:

Hello cheetah if you look at the author of both content you will see that me-tarzan is the author. The one you are referring to was just for Bittrex this one is for Poloniex and Bittrex.

your talking to a robot man! ahaha. Thanks for the post though, my transfer seems to be taking over 3 hours, is that normal?

Update: 29th Aug 2018:
When withdrawing from Bittrex there are two boxes labelled "Tag" and "Address".
In the "Tag" box you need to paste-in your MEMO key that starts with STM and in the "Address" box type in your account name such as "christymonty".

This worked perfectly for me.
I hope this helps some people with deposits.

Thanks for the info. It's so cool how Steemit searches can even replace Google in some cases. So many good tutorials on here for all different kinds of stuff.

thanks for the information!

@me-tarzan - Thank you for the clear explanation. Worked well. Cheers to you!

Thanks @me-tarzan. Very useful information.

You are very welcome

Thanks so much!! I needed tis today :)

Just what I was looking for. Thank you.

Thanks for the post. Still super helpful after all these months.

How about Steem Dollars from another Exchange back to Steem Dollars on Steemit? In other words............

If I have purchased Steem Dollars on an Exchange, how do I get them back to my Steem Dollars on Steemit?

Thanks

Hello @peacekeeper If you buy SBD on Poloniex or Bittrex use the same steps as with steem. Then when your Steem Dollars arrive in your wallet , you then go to the market here on STEEMIT and you can then buy steem here on STEEMIT with the Steem Dollars you sent from Poloniex or Bittrex. Hope this answered your question.

So the Memo key is in fact your Steem account public key? Why make it so confusing steemit developers?!

I actually agree it needs to be a little more user friendly for mainstream adoption

Which im sure it will be in time ... even things like that which the futute typical steemit user may or may not do

@me-tarzan thanks for the info
