The Event

Last Saturday was the second gathering gig for #steem-music at the same venue as the first one. The owner of Liberal Latte was kind enough to be the host for this event again. This time around, the gig was a collaborative effort with an NGO called Small Changes. @perennial has made a post explaining on what Small Changes is and also what are they fighting for.

Reminiscing Old Times

Year 2011, back to my diploma days in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, I had a group of friends with the same taste of music, and of course, loves singing as well. We would bring our guitars to the dining hall every single night to jam while finishing our assignments at the same time.

I was there for only a year before I fast-tracked to pursue my degree in Skudai, Johor Bahru. To be honest, the only memories I had were mostly of these guys, nothing else, really lol.

These are the only photos I managed to find of those times, back then, we didn't really take photos much because Blackberry's camera wasn't that pretty 😂

Since then, most of us took our own way apart from each other, some went to the same Uni, and some don't.

The Reunion

My friends and I had only been contacting each other on Instagram and Facebook, not that frequent, but enough to keep in touch. Some of us still meet at least once a year during the festive seasons.

Until recently, I met three of them at the #steem-music gig. @irahzabirah has been making covers on her own on Instagram, so @kymio invited her to the night. Sayuti and Nurul, both my uni mates that were married last year decided to tag along (without me knowing). Some catching up happened throughout the event, enjoying our cup of coffee accompanied by beautiful live performances.

One of our topics that night was about a recently popular musical movie, The Greatest Showman. It turns out that all of us watched it at least two times at the cinema!

After the event ended, one thing let to another then we started jamming like the old times. I was on the guitar while @irahzabirah and Sayuti's harmonious voices echoed the room. Most of the songs, you guessed it, were from The Greatest Showman Soundtrack. We recorded the spontaneous sessions, so hope you guys enjoy them!
