TW's steemy progress report to 8-Aug-2018

in steem-progress •  6 years ago

I have been learning a lot about Steem since my last progress report, some 20 days ago. During that time I have connected with many more people in the wider Steem ecosystem, and have started forging strong relationships, particularly within the TeamNZ and SteemMonsters communities. I've also learned about Chibera, a new MMORPG which will have features that will be integrated on the Steem blockchain, such as guild / clan forums and in-game trading. I'm not likely to be able to participate in the pre-release activity for Chibera, as I can't afford to invest anything, but I am really looking forward to playing it when the full release is out.

My Steem network of links

My Steem network is showing quite clearly the duality of my interests so far. On the left of the above chart (generated by SteemReports.com) are my SteemMonsters contacts, and on the right are my TeamNZ contacts. Sure, that isn't 100% accurate, but it is close enough.

My SteemPeak Dashboard

Many of my fellow SteemMonster fans have recently discovered SteemPeak, being that the SteemPeak developers have just released a new app called PeakMonsters, which is targeted squarely at the SteemMonster players. Even before this was released, I was already an avid SteemPeak user, and hopefully the dashboard charts above, generated by SteemPeak, will sufficiently demonstrate why I believe SteemPeak is superior to SteemIt as an interface. But that is just the tip of the iceberg! SteemPeak also has features like saving of drafts, post templates, and much more.

My previous two progress reports included one of these "report cards" from Steemd, so it wouldn't be the same without having one here. I've been on the Steem blockchain for 60 days now, I see. Another thing which is becoming a custom for me in these progress reports is to acknowledge my sponsors, @ryivhnn and @lemony-cricket for their generous delegations. Without their help, I probably would have quickly gotten frustrated with my glacial progress here when I was only on the initial 15SP delegation from Steem Inc. I feel that I owe it to my supporters to make the most of the delegation they have given me.

I am a proud member of the AUS & NZ Discord server. My thanks to @cryptonik for making me this cool #TeamNZ banner. Kia Kaha!

an awesome MMORPG blockchain game you can play simply by doing the things you normally do on Steemit; and it doesn't matter what your rep level is, everyone has an equal chance of winning battles and collecting loot.
So if you want to know more about the project and maybe joining a Guild for extra fun and support, enter the discord invite server, follow the welcome guides, and get your game on.
You can battle your friends, or find new opponents to annihilate in the Clockwork Arena.

Thanks @ravenruis, I am very interested in getting involved in Steempunk.net. I've installed the Firefox plugin, and I'm starting to read through the documentation for it all now. I hope you don't mind, but I will have plenty of questions for you about it. 😉   Here comes one now...

🙚 Once an attack is declared you will have 2 hours (1 hour in beta) to be as active as possible and grow in strength for the fight. (Active = voting, commenting, posting, etc) 🙘

— How Does A Battle Work? (Steempunk.net Game Usage FAQ).

Obviously, the first thing that I notice is the time commitment involved in this. How will living in New Zealand and being 12 hours opposite to most players affect my progress in this game? Am I going to need to stay up all night to make the most of this? If that's the case, my wife might kill me (or you) for getting me into this, haha! I have done the whole "stayed up all night, night after night, just to play an online game" thing in the past, and she was not best pleased. I do hope there is some way that I can be active in Steempunk.net without it requiring that level of commitment from me.

Also, from the same quote above, I'm concerned about the whole "you will have 2 hours to be as active as possible"  part. Two hours? I can easily spend that amount of time writing just one post! What I've been learning from my very early look so far at @valorforfreedom's SteemSchool.net material is that a single post on the Steem blockchain deserves lots of effort. I'm all about quality over quantity, as you can no doubt see from my reply to you here Raven, haha. If Steempunk.net requires me to churn out lots of "activity"  within a 2 hour timeframe, I may not be very good at this.

Another quick question: I see that the browser extension for Steempunk.net doesn't work with  SteemPeak.com URLS. Is there any way to change that in the settings? I don't really use  SteemIt.com much at all these days, now that I have switched to SteemPeak, and it would be disappointing to have to switch back to SteemIt just for this. I haven't actually logged in and started using the Steempunk.net extension yet, so I'm hoping that there is a simple solution to this, like a setting I can change in the interface, once I delve further into it.

But thank you, this definitely does look like a piece of me! I'll see you on the Steempunk.net Discord soon.

I'll give you time to have a look through all the literature first, as you may find some answers lurking amongst it (and probably in a more articulate way than me, lol), otherwise I am happy to go through anything and everything you still need to know. Give me a yell in their Discord server.

I'm not an expert on any of the behind-the-scenes stuff but the developers are and are super-helpful. :)

Happy to see you using all those cool tools!
Looking forward to creating more cool stuff.
