STEEM TIPS: Keep posting on the way down and on the way up.

in steem •  7 years ago  (edited)

Look, no one likes a fair weather fan. Folks that come here when it's hot and leave when it's cold aren't that great for the platform. What this place needs is some steady hands on the investor front and steady bloggers on the active front. I was posting when I was making 7 cents. I did it because it was fun. I did it because I had things to say. I did it because I wanted this place to be better than it was.

Don't stop because the price went down

SBD are still close to 10USD. You still have an assload of rewards to collect. You still have things to say, draw, write, and express. Don't stop just because the price is going down. The fair weather folks might leave, but the investors stay, so you have a nice little opportunity here to post when some of the others are feeling too down and out to do it.

Don't lose faith. This is crypto.

If you're from Southern California you know the weather is gonna be nice. If it dips from 75 to 72 you put your sweater on and you deal with cold spell. If you're from parts of New England you realize the weather can change in 5 minutes. Crypto is more like New England in that sense.

This correction does crazy things. New money looks at this and says "holy shit, that's cheap" and now we have new sources of money in crypto. People that freaked and left are gonna come back when they see they sold too early and shouldn't have. This correction is gonna get some new blood in crypto, and that's good for all of us.

Will that take an hour? a day? a week? a month?

I don't know. I'm sorta assuming that we'll be mostly recovered by dinner tonight, but we'll see how long this lasts.

Crypto is a fickle animal. So, I have a suggestion to help you if you're the type to take a lot of money out of crypto as you're going. Find a price point that you're comfortable with. When it's less than that slow down how much you withdraw. When it's more than that speed up how much you draw down. You won't like pulling it out when you're up, but if you have already made peace with a number it should be easier, and it will hurt a lot less than having to pull out extra when you're down.

Price isn't all that important if you're not drawing down

If you're hodling it doesn't really matter what the price is. So, the rewards you earn now will be there when you are ready to cash them out.

Just don't stop Steeming cause the price is down. It should be back up before you know it and future you will thank current you.

Great article. One post a day is the best way to do it!

Do whatever you do best with heart and soul, industriously, bet the rest comes rolling along.

Very true, That should be the strategy if we want to succeed in long-term ... these volatility shouldn't effect you if you trust the platform and the technology behind it.

Totally agreed to this! The only regret I have is not posting more when steem price was below 10cents, luckily I never sold majority of my earned Steem Power. Scheduled to be Shared to my Steemit Facebook & Twitter Group on the 25th December👍

Consistency is the way to mastery;) Nice post!

@aggroed doing what he knows best..ie great post with constructive adbise..keep it up and thanks. Also I mentioned you on my latest post, feel free to see it. Happy holiday season.

The rewards will come. As long as you are accumulating Steem, SBD and you think the price will go up in the future. The rewards will be much bigger of course when that happens.

Because of the 'cooldown' time of 7 days. Before you get the reward. It wouldn't make sense to only start writing when the prices are going up. Since that can change at any giving moment.

So buy the time you get your reward. Steem could be worth a whole lot less.

What makes sense and what people do are often not aligned.

Anybody who complains when steem "crashes" down to $2.81 (which would be a super pump high just a few weeks ago) is the definition of a fair weather fan.

This isn't even a blip! 30% down at breakfast, 30% back up by dinner. Call me when Steems are back below $1.50 and I'll start to worry... until then, we are still enjoying gains gains gains in my book.

Well said man. I'll still post and buy steem no matter how low it goes. The more great content we make the move value steem will have in the long run.

Call me when Steems are back below $1.50...

and I will start buying.

the landscape has been littered recently with fair weather fans and you're right, nobody likes it.

One year ago today, more or less, we were posting together at .07 cents USD. It was rough, but a great group of 'steady hands' kept steeming away.

I'm 100% powered up. All proceeds have been going to SP or to helping minnows. There's perks to living with Mom and Dad, LOL, very little overhead.

SBD at $14 + and Steem at $4 USD, it's just the tip of the iceberg. Keep the quality content coming everyone, you'll be happy you did!!

And a year from now we will be commenting how we use to post for $4 STEEM....

It is going much higher which means the payouts, in terms of dollars, is going to explode. Those with more SP are able to affect things in a positive manner.

I think the same

I wanna keep my posting activity going so I can gain a good reputation and have a better position here for when the next bull run returns

perfectly said aggroed! Unfortunately I was one of the people who left when things were slow during late August, which I absolutely regret at this point!

But, I am having a blast right now blogging, and the high SBD and price of Steem is truly a blessing! Have a great day!

well said and exactly my thoughts. lets stay focused!

@aggroed, your advice about the price of crypto is both wise and practical.

Unfortunately, too many people only get excited/involved with currencies when the price is high.

There are two basic investment principles we should apply be following:

  1. Either buy low and sell high
  2. Or commit to a long term investment with dollar-cost averaging

Thank you very much, this is a very good encouragement for me. Thanks again

I agree with you 100% @aggroed. Though I don't have huge investments, I'm just a minnow, we just need to continue with what we usually do, not lose hope and stay positive. With $8.79 SBD we must continue steeming as you said crypto is a fickle animal.
Thank you for those encouraging words! Resteemed!

Lovely mate, thanks for the reminder :) You guys have been awesome!

This is something more people here need to realize. Most are here for the money which is fine, everyone is here for something. Just because the value is going down (fluctuating if you ask me) should not mean they should stop participating and working to make Steemit better all around.

We need people with money here, we need content creators, we need readers. It is an eco system that works together to build and grow. Investors can make money trading while content creators earn by creating and readers can earn by supporting their favorite content creators (upvote and resteem along with commenting).

This is nothing new for crypto, anything of value really but crypto is so "in the news" that we see it all the time. Values are going to fluctuate and that means ups and downs, sometimes by the second.

Enjoy the ride and keep your followers up to date on what made them follow you in the first place.

The problem is not be here for the money, but to come here, shit everywhere, then take the money away

I agree 100%. We need dependable people in all areas to sustain this ship.

You are right. Blogging should be a habit and not dependent on a price.
I struggle more with time instead of money. It is too busy before x-mas. 😊

What an inspirational post @aggroed. Only those who persevere will reap rewards. Patience is a virtue as what they say and this is proven true.

I put up a post saying similar things.

Unless you are a trader, who cares? The price of STEEM means nothing to you at this point. Ignore it.

As for the crypto, Wall Street is panics when something drops 5%-10%...in cryptos, that is a cup of coffee. We all know 30%-40% can happen overnight...in either direction.

I agree we will be back to where we were by the end of the weekend.

Exactly,

When Steem does 20%+ for multiple days straight. Everybody is fine with it. But if it is in the red. Just for a little bit. Then some immediate start to panic.

Steem hasn't even been above $3 for a week. And people already start freaking out because it had a small correction. In the last two weeks Steem has done very well. Especially if you take the overall crypto market of today in consideration

Very true.

The price of steem means nothing. All dolphins and minnows simply need to be powering up...that is the only thing they need to focus upon.

It is essential to have SP in your account...now is a good time to acquire it.

Gonna be here for a few more crashes; can't lose!

I came to steemit for a couple reasons.

  • to take money out of the pockets of social media giants, like Facebook.

  • To contribute content to the platform.

Earning money for said content is merely a bonus for me. Maybe I'll make enough to one day pay off my fiat debts and with a little luck, maybe even enough to use my earnings to put towards my goals. An off grid farm.

Thank you, the Best post to day. Follow me a new member of steemit.

Couldn't agree with you more. I'll be here right by your side for the long run!

Very true , keep steeming

Hard work ends will ever success.nice post thanks for sharing

Thanks dear

When it comes to Steemit just keep posting and participating without worrying about price action, the rewards will keep coming irrespective of how finicky the crypto market is....

Very good post..some people just give up easy...i'm definitly not one of them...It will go up again for sure..!

excellent post

thanx. for the encouragement.. i was upset becasuse i bought steem yesterday at high price and today it goes down....

I came here to stay.

Actually I made a pause, but this had other personal reasons.

I was posting when I was making 7 cents. I did it because it was fun. I did it because I had things to say. I did it because I wanted this place to be better than it was.

Truly, I admire those who have been in this platform for this long and probably took it like another social media rather than just a reward center truly it is worth praising and also to investors who stay behind after every dip

This is the truth, now fpr all the posts about good chances to buy! Thanks @aggroed

Good post

101% right

“Good is the enemy of great.” There are countless good things you could do. But what is the FIRST thing you should do? What's the ideal. Thanks for sharing. Nice post. You have my vote

Thank you for the effort.. giving hope to newbies like my self. Passion could be more important than rewards ,as the trip more important than the destination it seems

I completely agree. It's not about the money, it's about expression and commitment and saying what needs to be said. I just started on here and I haven't made more than cents, just like you said, but I enjoy the platform, finding useful information, and sharing my thoughts.

That's a great article buddy. Steem is a long-term solution to the internet. Paying people to post andupvote is brilliant p. There's only one way for Steem to go and that is up in the long-term is no way this is a short-term thing. If everybody on YouTube figured it out that Steem exists you can bet everything that they would be on here in a minute. It's just a matter of time before the word starts to spread. We are in on this on the ground for which makes it a fantastic opportunity to build our own income Source. If you're in this for the long term and you start posting every day and you have something unique and creative and informative to say you're going to build up an audience and with that audience comes money. Stick around everyone because this is just started let's talk in a year's time and see where we're all at LOL.

" Will that take an hour? a day? a week? a month? "

I just want say ... " I try every day " This is the only way how I can make this possible.

If I did not try it when it was just a few cents worth, I would not be here and I would not even have what I already have.

Excatly ;D , hello my friend nice to see you here while i was just reading hahaha , hope you have a merry Christmas ;D

Thank you!! And I hope your Christmas is cool too :)

Nothing will ever bring success if you don't do it for the enjoyment of it first. And IF you do something just for $$ success and not for the enjoyment, what a bunch of wasted time on earth! I do drop off my self, but it's not because of any ups or downs, i don't actually ever look to see if STEEM is up or down.. I do it for other scheduling reasons. I like having a place to write that feels like i'm contributing to something more than just throwing my stories out in the void. good post.. thanks!

Thanks. I needed this.

I love pineaple a lot. Nice post. I follow and follow you.

Totally agreed @aggroed. It does happens no matter on what you're hold on to. Volatile, major setback, fluctuation , etc. This comes with the package. Just follow the flow.

Aggroed, please help me with something about SBD prices (since you are here a long time, you might have some answer)

On steemit documentation It is written that the value of SBD is supposed to be as close as 1 dollars as possible.

Doesnt the high price defeat the ideia of an stable trustful currency? I was expecting some variation, but not a 10x higher.

If 1 dollars = 1 SBD is the os the aim told from the documentation, How this would this be supposed to happen?the only way i see is Steem Inc selling lots of SBD to take the price down.

But then, It wouldnt be a Free market.

Could you help me with this conundrum?

Yeah, I don't think it works the way ned and steemit thinks it does, but I think it still provides a giant benefit.

Yup you are right thank you for the courage.

Really nice article!!

@aggroed Sweet post...it also helps to encourage. The Steemit drama can be draining tho. I'm in it for the long run...so Steem on :) Best wishes & Happy Holidays. - @splendorhub

When things go down just hodl and look at it as an opportunity to buy where you should have bought 2 weeks or 2 months ago. BTS is actually killing it right now. And it looks like everything else is starting to recover somewhat. We'll see how this pans out. But totally agree, keep steeming on my friends, and let the weak ones leave. Sheep from the goats.

This post has received a 27.52 % upvote from @aksdwi thanks to: @aggroed.

Thanks for your help today.

Well stated and I really enjoyed this. I know that I'm in this for the long haul and I'm not going anywhere.

Well said, I don't see how people will complain about the price crashing now, once upon a time it was 0.50. you don't get to pay to post so what's the night. Guess some people still need to understand the gains of consistency.

No pain, no gain. Thanks to the motivation of the tip is very useful and encouraging.

I'm not stopping because I am invested in the platform, both financially and socially. But my posting might slow down. It's just a reward for effort equation. You can't expect quality posters to put hours of work in per post and get rewarded 7 cents. We need to put food on the table too!

Totally valid points!! I Steem because I have fun :) the other items are just a bonus

I don't know where everyone has gone I guess it's because it went down like you said weird. Merry Christmas!🎄

This is nicely written! ..Like my painting teacher always told me.. "Just keep swimming in your own lane." :)

25.92% @pushup from @aggroed

love this post.. why? helps confirms that my desire to be contribute my quota will pay off. thanks

Ofcourse

Well said, @aggroed, keep posting quality content.
Keep the good work up, one day you will be paid for this.
Cheers.

Well said. That's just the nature of crypto, and people should just keep writing on Steem because it's fun! I haven't written anything myself yet, but I can't wait to get started.

Thanks for the article, steemit made me know people and get vital information and it keep me busy atimes when I am lonely. Thanks to team #steemit.

Nice post no tension #steemit for life

it's a great suggestion.

This post has received gratitude of 7.07 % from @appreciator thanks to: @aggroed.

Great Article. It is very illuminating.

Steem soon will be $5 .The importance is to believe on what we are doing.
Good work.

Hello, great work, i liked your post and reward it with upvote.

I'm running budget proposal campaign on Steemit for funding my future STEEM Windows and Android app - STEEMER. If you would like to contribute, please visit my post for details: https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@cryptomonitor/steemer-your-future-steem-blockchain-transactor-windows-android-app-funding-update-23-12-2017

Personally I think that there is a really big part of me that wants more companies to accept more crypto currencies so that we can become completely independent of old fashioned 'money'. I understand it is very tempting to have articles worth $1000 usd or more and then convert the money, but I just love the fact that this while thing is decentralised and governments and banks can't do anything about it :P

Great post. Thanks for the Power Tips

Yes, we just need to have patience along with consistency.

At the end of the day, we have to remember why we are doing it, is it purely because of te rewards or the passion and fun that comes with blogging on a wonderful platform.

Im not a blogger or good at writing , so initially took me many hours to write even a 500 words and it was bit tiring but now it kind of become a habit.
Expressing thoughts, sharing pics few times in a week does good experience. Will continue to do it because i like it. I trust in steem and sbd so price will be much higher so i don't see any reason to quit or stop expressing on this platform

I'm glad I was the 333rd person to upvote this excellently written post. The only mistake the writer made was his refusal to tag this post in motivation--that could have saved a life. I liked the part where the writer said, "I was posting when I was making 7 cents. I did it because it was fun."

Although I am even making less than 7 cents now per post, I'll not quite. I know I will eat in the milk and honey that flows here.

Thanks @aggroed

The spike in values woke me up, and I'm still awake even as they fall a bit. I've seen what Steem can do and it got me interested in the long haul.

Did good job on your article, dude!!! I
