Hey Bernie,

I might not be happy with the full top 20 list... But who (in your view / opinion) does do a good job around here (as a witness)?

If you don't know this answer yourself, take time and find out. In the meantime, find someone you trust that does and proxy your witness vote to them until you do.

It impossible to get an unbiased response to that question but as @nonameslefttouse says, it's a good question.

This is a cool question.

Nobody. We need to create new witnesses from scratch

From scratch? That'll take a man, a woman, maybe a candlelight dinner, some wine... and a lot of time.

;)

Of course, the point is, the witness thinks he's a lord. He is chosen to represent the voters. But they don't know or want to use it, believing that they are the most important group that has been called to rule.

This has to change.

Steem needs marketing to survive. A changing of the guard might be cathartic, but is entirely unmarketable.

interesting and yup

Marketing about buy steem or join steem? Steem needs free and fast registration at first. Many people can't join steem.

First for one and then the other.

What has @aggroed done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

Created the only reason people come to Steem these days.

...but I thought everyone came here to see me?

I used to think that tew. =/

... my poor heart. It has shattered into a thousand pieces of devastation. Each piece devastated further by the blast. As good as this day was, I fear it is my last. Not even a cast can fix what has already passed. I once amassed a fortune, unsurpassed. Gone are my days of flabbergast.

I like that Katy Perry song as well.

She's hard to work with.

:eggplant:

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Nothing specifically that wasn't done directly by @yabapmatt. Aggroed is very good at positioning himself in front of the cameras and the spotlight to act as the face of Steem or the various projects that are all lead and developed by other people.

@yabapmatt has done the lion's share of the work in their "partnership"

Aggroed rarely participates in steemit slack unless he is dropping a post to his radio show.

He's absolutely the funding and inspiring force, but the OPS team of @r0nd0n and @globocop are incredible steemians giving up huge amounts of their time monitoring the station 24/7, doing the hard and software work, onboarding djs, solving problems, and creating all of the access points to the Waves. Just wanted to put that here because they are INCREDIBLE and need all the love because they're the types who are stoic and behind the scenes and not enough people know about them 🖤

He does a pretty good job maintaining the blacklist.

He actually posts stuff. Some of it can even be understood by me. He has a nice swimming pool and he has a blacklist which he uses to stop people using his bots and taking the piss out of the reward pool. Thats a pretty cool thing to do :-)

Granted, I don't follow Steemit much anymore - almost not at all - so grain of salt, but I think Mark does a good job reporting and exposing different forms of abuse and spam.

I like this guy. We got off to a shaky start and wanted to kill one another at one point, but we're cool now.

Put me in the top-20 and I’ll run a couple full nodes and continue building the BROsino and its multiplayer poker companion site about to launch within the next day or two...plus the rest of the BRO Sports & Gaming NetworkTM apps/sites currently in development.

It would be great to get some of that support that currently goes to scams and scammers like Magic Dice/Dmania/zombee or all of these “curation projects” that do practically nothing for Steem other than placate a few bloggers in our little bubble here.

We just continue building for the mainstream and aren’t ponzi-scamming people or promising a bunch of worthless shittokens for playing our ponzi-scam games. I guess that’s not good enough for Steem users. And everyone wonders why legit users/devs rarely stick around and why investors are pretty much nowhere to be found.

As much as some of you folks like to think this @ats-david character is a loudmouth asshole... he's actually pretty cool.

Thanks David's sockpuppet! :smirkemojiforpropereffect:

Ha! FEK oof. Not cool! Hand that boy a paintbrush and tell him to paint you like one of his French girls. He won't be able to!

What has @curie done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

the usual curie things:
discovering new and non-discovered authors,
rewarding under-rewarded ones,
donating steem for community development (supporting various smaller projects and contests)

Never manages their own witness so, IMO, should not have a witness server. The witness servers shouldn't be intended for funding companies. They should be intended for securing the chain production.

Not sure who is currently running the witness.

Not sure what to say, Curie is kind of organization and not one man - I've been part of curie for over 1.5 years, and few months ago I started operating their/our server.
I have been running my own witness for 7 months now, without any glitches, nor missed blocks - and I have fairly knowledge in computational data science (not that much into developing) but can pretty much grasp the codes.

Also it is worth noting that curie's goal is to redistribute all witness earnings back to active steem authors/users, through various donations/contests and curation.

Some people think a witness should fund a business or project and others think it should fund chain security and stop there.

I don't think witness funds need to be given back to people. They are earned by the user securing the chain.

No offense intended with the comment. Curie is a decent service from what I hear, as a non author.

Never manages their own witness so, IMO, should not have a witness server.

lol that is not true. Curie witness operators have always been within Curie. I don't know what makes you think "should not have a witness server", but Curie has been more than capable of running a witness. @svemirac has been doing an amazing job as a witness operator. Moreover, Curie is a community witness.

May I ask why commented under everybody, except for ocd-witness? I think both Curie and Ocd have done and still doing amazing service for the Steem community.

I like your SteemDevs channel. I was going to run an idea by you, moving SteemDev beyond discord. Creating an educational platform for those who want to learn coding on Steem. Something like this - https://emkc.org

I was on mobile and the page load is very bad so I eventually quit. Didn't ignore anyone intentionally. Will go comment on the others I missed.

I am not saying anything negative regarding the user operating the witness server, in fact they are the ones that should be getting the gross pay, in my opinion.

If curie and svemirac switched positions it would make more sense to me, as a developer/programmer.

As far as the project idea we have the looking-for-dev and project-promotion channels on the discord and always have people open to helping out.

This group hooked me up in the early days and I fucking love seeing noobs get paid more than me, because of them. They're a keeper. Cool in my books.

Dissentuous ditto.
My experience has been exactly opposite of that.

They told me corporatespeek or gtfo.
Then accepted delegations that diminished my slice of the pie.

It was a fine howdoyoudo.

BUT! Look at the difference between our work. I took the artist/entertainer route, which is what I wanted to do here, from day one, without knowing who or what would be interested; and you're more political/opinion. They weren't looking for opinions. They were looking for talent in a different field. Kudos to you though, for sticking to your guns instead of chasing that money, looking for the "easy" votes(it wasn't easy).

It triggered my favoritism button,...still not over it.
Still having their subsidy taken from my slice.

Also having Comment Contest which increases user engagement among Steemians

They've supported Lucksacks with Advertisements and Freerolls for the Steem Community via @geekgirl for some time now.

Curates. Legit curation is hard to come by here these days.

What has @someguy123 done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

A large portion of my time lately is spent working with Steem Engine, actively developing the behemoth of a project that is Cryptotoken Converter - a fully open source cryptocurrency gateway, faciliating deposits/withdrawals and conversions between a multitude of coins.

I did make a post about this just 2 months ago, covering a lot of the work I've been doing behind the scenes https://steemit.com/witness-category/@someguy123/witness-update-primary-witness-now-in-sweden-steemengine-development

Thanks to the work of myself, @yabapmatt, @harpagon, @aggroed and several others, it's now possible to send foreign cryptos such as Bitcoin and Litecoin to anyone on the STEEM network - transaction fee free and in seconds, as well as exchange them on the SteemEngine DEX with zero trading fees.

I've also been experimenting with MIRA, and I've made updates to my Steem-in-a-box project to support it, allowing a wider audience to test it out and help discover any potential issues with the new updates. (announced it first in steem.chat #witness - post coming soon).

There's also general maintenance of existing projects such as https://anon.steem.network (something which even you use, as anyone can find out by looking at the public incoming STEEM transfers), https://www.steem.center and https://value.steem.network

A lot of Steem contributions take place at my company @privex :

  • We operate an RPC load balancer https://steemd.privex.io and wss://steemd.privex.io which is used by many services for handling their Steem transactions reliably
  • We run one of the few remaining RPC full nodes, direct.steemd.privex.io (currently replaying MIRA) which costs us upwards of $700+/mo just for the hardware.
  • We run two seeds for the network, one in Finland (steemseed-fin.privex.io) and one in Sweden. (our Finnish seed also serves as a lightweight public RPC node)
  • We mirror the Steem blockchain across 3 countries (Germany, Finland and Sweden) on our multi-homed fileserver http://files.privex.io via both HTTP and Rsync, which is used as the default block download source for Steem-in-a-box
  • We're help boost the Steem economy by being one of the few businesses that accepts STEEM/SBD directly, not via a third party processor. We even pay our staff primarily in STEEM/SBD.

I'm well aware of the fact that I don't post updates to Steemit as much as some other witnesses do, but that doesn't negate the amount of work I do for the community and network.

He's done some work on Steem-Engine, he runs Anon-steem, and Privex. Also Steem-in-a-Box (docker).

Correct. He is the reason Steem Engine has pegged tokens.

I hear good things.

Provides a stupid simple steem-in-a-box setup so users like Jerry Banfield can run witness servers easily.

Runs Privex and offers great deals so a huge percentage of witnesses are using the same hosting company.

Doesn't participate much in steemit slack.

It's just some guy. I don't know. No comment.

no clue, who the hell is this guy?

What has @yabapmatt done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

@yabapmatt is responsible for some of the cooler projects on Steem:

  • Steem Monsters
  • Steem Engine
  • Steem Keychain
  • Steem Bot Tracker
  • Post Promoter

This guy once accidently upvoted my Shit Post of the Day Award for way too much money, and I think spoke to me once, so that makes him cool.

All of the actual work for the projects related to him and aggroed. The ones listed below.

@yabapmatt sometimes participates in steemit slack discussions.

  • splinterlands,
  • steem-engine
    ...

If all witnesses would develop such cool things, we would be off way better ;)

This.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

He made Steem Monsters which has onboarded tons of new users to the platform, he help make Steem Engine which anyone can tokenize anything via the Steem Blockchain, he created the bid bot system. Not to mention employs parttime a few members here including myself. He’s what an ideal witness is all about

He also delegates his SP to different steemit comunities, for example @homesteaderscoop

What has @blocktrades done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

See this one is really strange to me. Blocktrades helped do some stuff in the beginning with Steem and made a huge pile of tokens. Now he is being paid directly from steemit for something, not sure what.

And his team made the SPS system for $50-100k, whatever he quoted, yet steemit doesn't want to work with pretty much any other developers.

Blocktrades is there because he is in the old boy fanclub.

With all that said, the exchange he runs is useful, just not sure we need his company also siphoning from inflation.

He does participate in steemit slack.

written SPS code? keeping STEEM on their exchange.

This guy talked to me once, so he's cool.

Been a righteous bro since BitShares afaik. Upvoted Lucksacks and supported some freerolls for a bit. Provided an easy way for bloggers to cash out without KYC for a few years. Dunno if that's good or bad, up to the reader I guess.

I got votes from him when we talked about these things some years ago.
He sponsored steemsports when they provided most of my rewards.
Haven't used any other exchange for awhile.

Maybe he supports expanding the top 20 to 35, too.

What has @gtg done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

He knows more about the blockchain than anyone here if there was only one witness slot, this would be my choice.

He has tested MIRA most recently and given a fairly deep dive into the technical pieces such as performance and bechmarking. He leaves good jokes in the Steemit slack and sometimes even participates in chats in there.

I think he also helps newbies in the Steemit Chat with their first baby steps on the platform :-)
Gandalf is dope! He helped me out a lot in the beginning.

He has contributed flags against bid bot abuse on trash memes from richatvns contests.

On that note, probably good to follow up on that.

Top post @berniesanders . I was totally pissed off when hardly any of the witnesses could be arsed completing that survey a few months ago and so seeing some of them diving out here and commenting makes a nice change.
For people like myself (dimwitted shit posters) we have absolutely no fucking idea who the people are who are the guardians of the chain and when most of them do post, it's in an undecipherable language called Techlish.

It's more than his name though, he answers questions, acts as a liaison for those of us who don't speak tech.

All over this thread you have mentioned participation in slack, but you don't seem to value actual communication on the blockchain and in a manner that people can understand it.

There are several orcas and many many dolphins who don't participate in slack and would still like to know what is happening and why.

This is not a complaint towards you, just sharing a perspective you may not see. Thanks for doing what you do.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Hi Bernie. Believe it or not, I do appreciate / enjoy it when you start these discussions. It is an important topic that we need to keep talking about, and you are one of the main people who can actually get a good conversation going on the subject.

I'm not going to try and make the case that I'm doing "enough". I would agree with the sentiment that I should be doing more, and I feel the same about most of the other top 20. I will at least make the case that I'm doing something though. It is up to the voters to decide if my work is worth their vote, or if there are others who are doing a better job and are more deserving of it.

I actually am in the camp that would love to see more new witnesses come along who do more than the people currently in the top and work their way up. I recognize that it is not easy to do, but there are many people (myself included) who are in the top 20 today because they have done just that. If the bar is low, then hopefully that encourages others to step up.

Before I go into what I have been up to though, I do want to talk a little bit about the time commitment involved. I'm by no means trying to make excuses for a lack of accomplishments, but there is only so much a person can do with the time they have. I did take a risk a year back and tried to support my family by doing Steem witness full time. I accomplished a lot during that time (including the development of a few changes that made it into the last hardfork), but unfortunately the price went below a level where I could continue to do that long term. I am now back to having to balance my Steem time with a "real job" as well as still spending some time with my family. With 24 hours in a day and multiple things I need to balance my time between, I am not going to be able to do Steem 100% of the time. Again, I'm not trying to make excuses - I am just being honest about what I am realistically able to give to the project.

Despite not having 40 hours a week to devote to Steem though, I do still try to do what I can with my time to improve things to the best of my ability.

  • I am very active in terms of discussing potential changes with other witnesses, Steemit, Inc. and community members / stakeholders. I know this isn't doing much to move the needle on the STEEM price, but I do consider it one of my most important duties as a witness. If I do not have a good understanding of what all the potential changes being discussed for the blockchain are about, or I am not able to make informed good decisions about what is right/wrong about them - then I am not doing my job.
  • I tried very hard (unsuccessfully, unfortunately) to try and negotiate a "deal" between the stakeholders+witnesses and Steemit, Inc. with regards to the use of their stake.
  • I am one of the main people who review all the questions in the steem.chat #help channel every day and ensure that everyone who is there reporting an issue there gets directed to an answer.
  • I also do run a full node.
  • There have been lots of other projects that I have worked on, and I do put my energy into various things as I see needs pop up.

I don't really have a good solution to your problem, as I see things continuing very much as they are today.. One thing that could help would be if enough of the larger stakeholders started communicating what their criteria are for voting on witnesses, and then updated their votes accordingly. If becoming (and remaining) a top 20 required witnesses to live up to certain criteria, then hopefully we would see more witnesses strive to meet that criteria. You would need at least 20 witnesses willing to do enough to make it in in order for it to work though - not sure if it is possible to motivate 20+ people to put in a large enough effort with the current STEEM price.

I am also hopeful that the "Steem Proposal System" that is part of the next proposed hardfork can help to incentivize more innovation and improvements. In it's current form, it will have an inflation budget equal to the current combined witness pay across all the witnesses. It remains to be seen whether it will just turn into another tool for people to exploit or something that actually generates value, but the potential for it to work will be there. I am hoping we see better accountability in terms of whether we are getting enough "bang for our buck" than we do with the current witness voting system.

That's fair. I do do other stuff too. I should probably do a better job at "selling myself" as a lot of things are done behind the scenes and people don't really see the impacts. Again, I'm not going to try make the case that I am doing "enough" - I agree, I should be doing more, but the list I gave is not exhaustive of everything I'm up to.

It is hard to quantify a lot of contributions, when it is a lot of little things. There are a few other items that I didn't mention which came to mind though:

There are more too. I don't expect everyone to keep up with all the miscellaneous things that I am up to, or know what conversations I have with various stakeholders in private - but I am not just sitting on my hands and collecting money for doing nothing. I do try to find ways to add value in the time that I have, and sadly - I consider myself to be doing quite a bit more than many of the other witnesses in the same position.

Tim translates for us nontechys.

I can't tell if you're being serious or making a joke about him doing nothing worth mentioning.

When i got questions he's the guy i ask, he answers most of them.
Wasn't he the first community pull request?
Our Jackie Robinson?

He even explained something to me once and I am possibly the thickest English speaking person on the chain.

Lol, he did the faq's.

Isn't he working on Steem code and running a seed node?

Running a seed node takes 0 effort at all...it USED to be highly encouraged for those in the top 20...

aye. pretty much 0 but it does cost a bit of money to run one. Or is that a wrong assumption?

Less than I'll spend on lunch today.

Damn! What you having?

Lobster.

Take pics bruh

This guy spoke to me a couple times. He's cool.

I find Tim to be incredibly articulate and knowledgeable when it comes to the steem blockchain.
He has come into steemspeak to explain things to us and it's always great listening to him break things down.

Certainly a very cool guy.

After the 10th comment like this I did start to follow you

What has @ocd-witness done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

focused on whitelisting authors for their distribution bot.
Curation of under-rewarded authors.
Welcoming new authors.
reddit curation (for people who want to promote steem outside the steem ecosystem) - also they are the youngest top20 witness.

This witness might be doing all of the things which @svemirac might have mentioned but I don't know why @acidyo regularly uses word of Non-Profit in his posts whenever promoting @ocd-witness because clearly he is making much by being top-20 Witness.

Our distribution bot @ocdb is fully non-profit: https://thegoodwhales.io/queue.html

Nice to see you pop by again this month, maybe use your main account next time? :3

Maybe you need to read my statement again
You are running a non-profit bot @ocdb and then promote that service to make profit via your @ocd-witness.
I have personally have no problem with you making something on your witness account but your claim of fully non-profit is wrong, that's it.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

I don't know why @acidyo regularly uses word of Non-Profit in his posts whenever promoting @ocd-witness

I've only mentioned the non-profit part when talking about @ocdb because many don't seem to understand how a distribution bot that gives whitelisted authors a 10% profit is still competitive to delegators. Which in reality is just cause bid bot owners are taking a huge cut for themselves as they are supposed to cost to use.

i think this person doesn't understand what is meant by the ocd group of accounts at all.

A witness account doesn't take profits, it gets paid to produce blocks.

A witness account

Paid to produce blocks.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Produce blocks/Rewards/ Payout/ Profit/Paid, does it make any difference? because witness account is getting SP for it which I mentioned in your post.

I do know what @ocd group does which svemirac mentioned earlier:

focused on whitelisting authors for their distribution bot.
Curation of under-rewarded authors.
Welcoming new authors.
reddit curation (for people who want to promote steem outside the steem ecosystem) - also they are the youngest top20 witness.

@ocdb is part of @ocd and @ocd-witness gets witness vote for providing all the services under @ocd umbrella(including so-called distribution bot), correct?

None of other top 20 witness claim, they are providing any "NON-PROFIT" services even if they are providing RPC node service.
BUT I am going to quote you a little there "ocd group of accounts" usually claim they are providing all these services without gaining any profit or rewards or payout or producing blocks.

I hope I have made myself clear, if not then its alright. We are all waiting for HF21 anyways and bots(whether bid-bot or distribution-bot) are hopefully going to be extinct anyways.

Yeah. These are good folks. Cool in my books.

I know what a handful of these witnesses has done, and what they are doing. I would say that I know what 15% of these witnesses are doing... Matt is probably the best witness we have. At least top 3.

Not so sure about the other 85% though... Seems legit to have a party planner within the top 10.

Feel the need to defend this comment: Just fyi here is my contributions list of past 6 months beyond steemfest "party planning". Would be great if you consider attending this year!

my added value this past 6 months:
https://steemit.com/steem/@berniesanders/you-know-what-steem-needs-to-survive-new-witnesses#@roelandp/psj5o7

I had no idea you had done or were involved in these many things.

Frankly speaking, the overall communication from witnesses is extremely poor and we, the "average users" have very little to go on without solid communication. I appreciate the response.

thanks for the feedback. I understand this can be a problem. Its actually one of the reasons I don't "overpost" on my steem blog @roelandp, just whenever something I did is essential to get the word out there. So basically the list above is my recent blogposts, more or less, combined with the occasional resteem :)

Here's your DRAMA. Don't spend it all in one place!

To view or trade DRAMA go to steem-engine.com.

What has @smooth.witness done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

Provides critical technical thinking and planning into proposed economic changes to steem.

Active participant in steemit slack.

He's been in crypto since forever. Well respected everywhere I've encountered. Most times appears to be the smartest guy in the room. Provides valuable feedback. Always on top of things. Asset to any community IMHO. I can sometimes make him lol, so that's a bonus. 😏

Sorry I cannot provide any feedback on Steem Community things for I no longer keep up with that stuff since I have no stake here any longer. So ... according to Dan, my opinion is worth no more than a bot, so take it for what it's worth. 😏

No idea who this is or anything about him!

This dude spoke to me a couple times. Has a good sense of humor. He's cool.

Bro, your comments :D

Pretty cool hey!

I was laughing, so yes! :D

Note to myself. If i ever meet @nonameslefttouse, have a chat with him, he will probably say i am cool

Posted using Partiko Android

Self notes. Cool idea!

Wish it was cool around here, and it’s only June!

Shhh! A lot of folks around here think Canada is cold. Let's not tell them about summer here. If they found out, there would be more people around than mosquitoes. I happen to enjoy my quiet spot at the lake. It's cool.

What has @anyx done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

He runs a full node and hivemind node using his own hardware (helps in decentralization). Probably also behind @cheetah.

Yep! There are very few witness that own their own hardware (witness, seed, or RPC node, if they even have one) rather than rent it from a 3rd party. It's not a big talking point, but it has some interesting security implications. Akin to "not your keys not your coins", I'd argue "not your hardware not your data". And in this case, that data could be witness signing keys.

I've been scaling out and modifying my infrastructure quite a bit recently. A lot of applications have moved over to avoid reliance on Steemit -- I know Steemmonsters and Busy are two big examples. Further, in the Chinese community api.steemit.com seems to be actually blocked -- anyx.io is a portal to them.

I use your node too. Thank you kindly for it.

Own hardware? He will now get a vote from me.

???

Does not participate in the Steemit slack

I'm more of a reader than a writer in most things. I do read everything in that slack, though I only usually write something if it's important. There's a lot of noise and not-useful arguing in that slack.

I don't think participation in a closed-door slack is a very good metric anyways.

Well, the participation needs to be somewhere and it isn't on chain. So at this point, that closed door Slack is a good indicator of personal commitment and involved into actually helping to decide on these issues that have been lingering for years.

Participation can also be private rather than public. I message lots of people directly, as I prefer 1:1 conversations.

Just because I don't shout the loudest or the most in public doesn't mean I'm not doing anything.

Haha says the guy who doesn't post on the steem blockchain for months but comes out of hiding to post on this post and one other.
You're all good @anyx it's funny he's the one talking about participation.

Cheetah?

Cheetah alone was a huge contribution that was very welcomed by those of us that used to manually try to "verify" users and posts in the early days. Righteous bro afaik.

there anyx much I can tell you about him

Intetesting question...

Ok, so, being a witness = monthly salary equivalent to salary of full time employee.

Several of them could be developers, several of them could do marketing 24/7 you name the others.

20 people working of Steem(it) are the equivalent of a nice startup - for free!
Why this option was not used, I have no clue

Posted using Partiko Android

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Being a top 20 witness = 1850 steem per month, that's around 740 dollars a month. Find me a competent developer or marketing guy for that amount and I'd gladly hire him/her

edit : top witness = 8150 steem, so 3260$ before tax which is now a "not bad" number but still low depending on where you live and your situation. As a dev I can easily get paid much more.

So my initial point still stands

Yeah sucks to see people think they know fuck all about dev work when they clearly don't. We don't get paid less than Starbucks employees.

Its 8150 steem :)

Oh ! I was not aware haha I based my assumptions on this old post : https://steemit.com/witness-category/@witnesswatch/witnesswatch-weekly-report-8-how-much-do-witnesses-make

But forgot that it's a weekly report

Loading...

Because we've settled for mediocrity.

For me it's almost impossible to imagine that 100.000.000 $ worth Steem is expected to be promoted by - volunteers.

During my decade long career, I have never seen a company doing that.
For every job position - you need qualifications, CV, education, interviews, you sign a contract...

To be some Steem guru-demi-god, you should be active and loud.

It's a brave concept

What has @ausbitbank done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

I don't know, he muted me not long after getting here.

Ah, he probably found out you've been vaccinated...

Lol, they shouldn't have taught me to read if they didn't want me having bright ideas,...

Hahahahahaha

He rehosted msp3k bot framework for MSP since I shut it down after never being compensated for time, servers, or work.

Not an active participant in steemit slack

Never had a problem with this guy. He spoke to me a couple times, so that makes him cool.

They probably upvoted my "are chemtrails real" post years ago. 😏

What has @followbtcnews done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

@followbtcnews & @crimsonclad do a lot of community support and development and re-invest a bulk of their witness rewards into the platform.

Thanks Marky, we also run a Full Public RPC node for everyone to use, we pay for and operate steem.chat along side @gtg , we built steemtipper.com which allows anyone to tip steem on Twitter and Reddit, we run a seed node. We run 3 witness servers, 1 main and 2 backup. @crimsonclad spends ump-teen hours a day in different communities to help, and a shit ton of other stuff.

I am glad Bernie made this post and get us witness's out here to explain some of the stuff we do, its good for the community to know

That too! One of the few witnesses Steemians providing a full node.

Actively participates in the Steemit slack discussions

Solid Bro, also Lucksacks longest running supporter giving away 100 SBD a month to the Steem Poker League (SPL) players for what seems like years now (check blockchain for actual #'s).

Runs steem.chat. Cool dude to chat with, which is worth more than some of these witnesses "contributions" in my book. 😏

What has @clayop done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

Unless you are a Korean, not much.

Drops a link or two in steemit slack but doesn't participate much.

Supporting and promoting Korean community. preparing something new for steem too.
Also he is very active on his blog (not that I understand anything) but he is present, supporting healthy community and promoting steem!

Dunno, I don't really keep up with all things Steem these days, but clayop has a solid rep since BitShares afaik.

What has @drakos done to support Steem in the past 6 months?

Supporting many interesting contests that just boost up activity and keep steemians engaged, also curates various steemians.

Actively participates in steemit slack even though it's mainly with memes and price discussion about steem.

while dodging netuoso's bullets 😉

If you weren't bashing the witnesses in your post, I would have replied. You did that before and you're doing it again. Be respectful and I'll be happy to answer.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

My services and skills say otherwise.

Not to be redundant and say that is what blockchains are supposed to be about, yeah, witnesses need to be emphasized among users. Else a decade or two from now we will be in Washington DC with deja vu of Zuckerberg turning to Global Coin to escape Privacy Rights violations.

I support the following witnesses: @steempeak, @yehey, @qurator, @arcange

Most of these steem witnesses have great contribution to the development and positive progresses of steem platform. I believe
Themarkymark
Blocktrades
Yabapmatt
Have been doing great and contributing their own best to the platform

All of them will support hf21 with their full weight, no matter what hf21 brings.

That's for sure.

Not all of them, a couple don't.
But there is no such thing as HF21. There is no code, there is nothing to support.

All we have now is an unofficial proposal.

Who doesn't support the "HF21" (SPS + inflation + EIP)?

I know @drakos said he doesn’t support EIP. I am not sure who else.

I don't support EIP it in its current form. I'm for the downvote pool and the convergent curve, but don't like the idea of 50% curation because I think it will harm the authors, and as you mentioned Marky, let's not forget about the apps with beneficiaries, which will even slash the author rewards further. Given that EIP is a package (the "take it" or "leave it" sort), then it's a "leave it" for me. What I also dislike is their cramming it with HF21. We all know what happened when after they crammed too many things in HF20 and I'd hate to see history repeat itself. One thing at a time. Besides, the supermajority is in favor of EIP so it will surely pass.

I posted the other day on this topic and pulled quotes from @steemitblog's post that was pretty clear they were not intending to put EIP in the next HF but were bringing it forward for discussion in a future HF.

If that has changed.. I can't seem to find any post about it.

There were talks on slack to include SPS and EIP together to reduce the hassle of 2 hardforks. Nothing is definitive yet, anything is possible.

The next Witness Chat in the Ramble is coming up on June 12th. I'm anticipating the HF will be part of the discussions.

Yabamatt doesn't either I believe.

Hey Bernie, I know Luke Stokes really tries and connects with people. Well, I cannot speak for the other people on the list unfortunately... I definitely see your point and especially with EOS' upcoming new DApp VOICE Steemit will need more enthusiastic devs and supporters.

What would be your solution?

Is there something like a Witness-Conference?

!dramatoken & popcorn

Right, so this raises us an awareness. Id like to change my vote witnesses right now.

@themarkymark actively flags spam, plagiarism, and other blockchain abuse that is killing the platform for actual content creators. @blocktrades actively supports STEEM/SBD markets. @curie supports actual content. As for the rest, I have no idea.

Is it even possible to elect witnesses without the @freedom vote? The whole thing seems rigged from the start

Please stop being so not politically incorrect, you are punching peoples interests in their faces, this post is unsettling.

I thought I would never agree with you but yes I'm you you on this one. There should be a system that change witness over time instead of what is happening some are saying they want control of inflation at any time.
This is total centralisation period.

steemit is here because of @aggroed only. He has done so many developments for steem.

I love that question and what you believe those new witneesses need to bring here from you point of view?

Posted using Partiko Android

I cant read every comment, but I think would be great each witnesses have one steemhunt explaining what is his project and vision for steem...

Ok so much drama and witness just talking bad about others witness in the comments lol.
Look like election day.

Congratulations @berniesanders!
Your post was mentioned in the Steem Hit Parade in the following category:

  • Pending payout - Ranked 5 with $ 163,31

Alright you got me. Time to change my witness votes.

@berniesanders who do you vote for?

That's very easy to know for a gypsy. Hahaha

Just Click Here and don't go to break a fingernail. };)

Thanks.

Did you get the info then?

Seems like nothing helps to boost Steem price( so many good projects around based on our blockchain but where is the result? I’m 2-year person here never powered down and bought much of my Steem for $2.2-1.7 price believing the success, now what I see despite % dividends drives me mad(

I can’t speak for all of them but how can you say no one on this list has done anything? @blocktrades is extremely well known and a good number of people on this list do work on steem-engine

Posted using Partiko iOS

I don't knew much about all witnesses. So, i can't comment on that but if i think broadly i find that few of them work well for steem ecosystem, most of others are only earning from the system and not doing any major thing for steemit.

As you see now many of witnesses has done a great deal of good things but it did nothing with the price so we stay where we stay

instead of some Bull shit hard fork and still lack of work on SMT they should instead make voting and witnesses a bigger part of the platform. I bet you 95% of the people have no idea who they are voting for and what they are voting for. That seems like a major issue right there that truly needs to be fixed and not all this other bullcrap. I am legit tired of steemit doing nothing and hording so much money for the last two years.

@ngc purchased a 100.00% vote from @promobot on this post.

*If you disagree with the reward or content of this post you can purchase a reversal of this vote by using our curation interface http://promovotes.com

Will MIRA bring new awesome witnesses?

This post has been resteemed!
More new witnesses to come!
To all the witnesses especially the top 20, I wish you all the best!

aggroed has done quite a bit though, give him some credit...like a coffee.
