I don't buy the engagement stuff. I used to do that at the start before I started seeing people with high Steem power voting for themselves all the time. This site is one huge ponzi scheme. Most of the articles under 'hot' wouldn't even get a like on twitter.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

    that is indeed a problem which got amplified by voting bots. Which is just a different form of self vote.

    Most of the articles under 'hot' wouldn't even get a like on twitter

    For that reason I don't look neither at hot nor at trending.
